Project on road to Dr. A. Yersin's tomb site under public opinion survey

A project on a road to Dr. A. Yersin's tomb in Suoi Cat Commune, Cam Lam District, Khanh Hoa Province is under a public opinion survey. A more convenient and wider route to Dr. A. Yersin's tomb has been long expected by visitors.

The rough trail, about 800m long, to Dr. A. Yersin's tomb from the National Highway is with weeds and shrubs contributing to the challenges for the travelers. A resident named Nguyen Thi Xuan in Tan Xuong Village, Suoi Cat Commune, said, “The existing trail is challenging, only suitable for small vehicles such as motorbikes. Tourists have to get off the bus and walk  through.”

Existing road to Dr. A. Yersin's tomb.

According to Dong Luong Son, Chairman of the Association of Dr. A.Yersin Admirers, along with relics such as Dr. A.Yersin's library at Nha Trang Pasteur Institute; Linh Son Pagoda in Suoi Cat Commune; Dr. A.Yersin's working house on Hon Ba Peak, Dr. A.Yersin's tomb is recognized as a national relic in 1990 by the Ministry of Culture and Information (presently, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.)

A visit to the site enables tourists to learn about the life of the great scientist and doctor with significant dedication to the country. This site has remained a popular tourist attraction for domestic and international visitors. Therefore, it is necessary to construct a road leading to Dr. A. Yersin's tomb to make the trip there more convenient.

Reportedly, the Department of Culture and Sports proposed the road investment project to the Provincial People's Committee on February 19. Accordingly, the road has a length of 309m with the starting point at the Km1+649 roundabout on the route connecting the Provincial Road 3 of the Eastern North-South Motorway project approved by the Ministry of Transport and the Department of Transport. On the route connecting the roundabout with Dr. A. Yersin's tomb site, there is a parking lot to serve visitors.

The internal road has 2 lanes, 7m wide, at a designed speed of 40km/h with asphalt surface, grass and trees on both sides, 2.5m wide each. The VND8.8 billion project is proposed to be completed and put into use in 2025.

On February 20, the leader of Pasteur Nha Trang Institute also had a document asking for the Provincial People's Committee’s consideration and guidance to build the connecting road from the roundabout to Dr. A. Yersin’s tomb and a parking lot to serve visitors.

Reportedly, the road construction project is being chaired by the Department of Planning and Investment to collect opinions from relevant departments, agencies and localities. On March 6, the Department of Transport sent a document to the Department of Planning and Investment regarding opinions about the project investment proposal report, requesting for evaluation of some contents related to planning compatibility, project scale, total investment capital, etc.
