H.N

Many people donated their long hair to cancer patients through the hair donation program organized recently by Novotel Nha Trang Hotel and Nha Trang City Women's Union. The program not only spread kindheartedness and gave practical encouragement to cancer patients.

The organization board had contacted and cooperated with Breast Cancer Network Vietnam to organize the program hair donation program in order to help the people who want to donate their hair to cancer patients. The 3rd floor of Novotel Nha Trang where the hair donation program took place was filled with people who wanted to give their love and encouragement to cancer patients. The program also aimed to raise awareness of the importance of health and raise funds for cancer patients.

The hair donation program attracted many members of Nha Trang City Women's Union, other women and young people. Nguyen Thi To Hoa (born in 1963, Phuoc Long Ward, Nha Trang City) donated her 1m-long hair that she had grown for the past 10 years. Nguyen Thi Nhi (born in 1963, Vinh Trung Commune, Nha Trang City) said, “This is the first time I have donated my hair, which I have grown for many years. This time, I donate 45cm of my hair to send love to women with cancer.”

Many people took their children to the hair donation program to teach them about sympathy and benevolence. Ngo Thi Minh Tung and her daughter (Ninh Xuan Commune, Ninh Hoa Town) travelled to Nha Trang City early in the morning to donate their hair. Tung had grown her hair for 3 years; her daughter's hair had been grown for 9 years. Last year, Tung’s eldest daughter donated 40cm of her hair by post. Tung always asks her children to take good care of their hair to donate to cancer patients.  Bui Le Thien Thao Linh (born in 2014, residing in Phuoc Long ward, Nha Trang), who was taken to the program by her aunt, had also taken good care of her hair to express her sympathy to cancer patients through giving her hair.

Spreading benevolence

The hair donated through the program is a spiritual gift given to cancer patients, partly helping the patients to have more spiritual strength, as said by Nguyen Thi Thuy Phuong, general manager of Novotel Nha Trang Hotel. Especially, the program attracted some men. Ha Viet Son (born in 1993) moved from Hanoi to Nha Trang over a year ago. As a man, it was a little uncomfortable for Son to grow long hair. However, he determined to grow his hair long for the past 2 years to donate to cancer patients.

The hair donation program was supported by many hair salons in the city. Nguyen Duy hair salon has offered free-of-charge haircut to the hair donors. This time, Nguyen Duy hair salon sent 10 hairdressers to the hair donation program. “This program is meaningful and helps to spread benevolence, so I want to help the hair donors have beautiful hair after donating their hair,” said Duy.

The organization board received nearly 350 locks of hair to send to “Wig Library from Real Hair” of Breast Cancer Network Vietnam for cancer patients across the country.
