Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong passes away

General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee Nguyen Phu Trong born in 1944 passed away at 1:38 pm on July 19, 2024, due to old age and serious illness despite wholehearted treatment and care by the Party, State, leading medical specialists and his family, according to the Board of Health Care for Central Officials.

The Party Central Committee, the National Assembly, the State President, the Government and the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee will issue a special communiqué on organizing the State funeral service for General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.
