Preliminary summing up of master Nha Trang Bay restoration plan

After 1 and a half years of implementation of  the master Nha Trang Bay restoration plan till 2030 promulgated by Nha Trang City People’s Committee, Nha Trang Bay Management Board has cooperated with relevant agencies, departments and organizations to build and implement 14/16 tasks in the plan.

Specifically, they included releasing 12,000 offspring to reproduce aquatic resources in the bay; planting mangroves at Dam Bay Island, Tac River and Cai River estuaries; suspending swimming and diving activities in the vulnerable coral reef areas on Nha Trang Bay, especially the area surrounding Hon Mun Island from June 27, 2022 until further notice; banning single-use plastic products and plastic bottles, under 1.5l through Nha Trang Tourist Port, etc.

In the last 6 months, Nha Trang Bay Management Board has continued to carry out tasks in the plan, focusing on monitoring and supervision at Hon Chong – Dang Tat sea waters to prevent any activities that may cause damage to the marine environment and coral reefs; conducting research on functional zoning of Nha Trang Bay Marine Protected Area; and developing appropriate management models and public-private cooperation mechanisms to preserve, restore and promote the values ​​of Nha Trang Bay.
