Several activities pay tribute to revolutionaries

Several activities will be held in Khanh Hoa Province to pay tribute to revolutionaries on the occasion of the 77th anniversary of the War Invalids and Martyrs' Day (July 27, 1947-2024).

According to Pham Thai Dai, Director of Khanh Hoa Department of Labor, War Invalids & Social Affairs,  the celebration of activities to mark the 77th anniversary of the War Invalids and Martyrs' Day is to promote patriotism and revolutionary tradition, especially among young generations; increase public awareness of responsibility and gratitude to revolutionaries’ sacrifice and contribution to the national struggle for national protection and liberation. This is also an opportunity to honor and pay tribute to revolutionaries and their families, showing community responsibility for promoting the implementation of the Government’s “gratitude policy” and mobilizing all social resources for meritorious services.

An outstanding activity in this year’s event will be the July flag ceremony themed promoting the “gratitude policy”. Others will include laying wreaths and burning incense at Hon Dung Martyr Cemetery and Tram Huong Tower shrine in commemoration of heroic martyrs; visits to 80 outstanding revolutionaries and their families; and to some nursing homes for revolutionaries.

In addition, the local leaders will pay visits to revolutionaries residing in their localities. This year, the Provincial Youth Union and localities will organize a candle-lighting ceremony to commemorate war invalids and martyrs for their great contributions to the national liberation and defense; take revolutionaries and martyrs’ family members to attend the national meeting in the capital of Hanoi, etc.

To ensure the celebration is inclusive and meaningful, based on the functions, tasks and guidance by the Provincial People's Committee, departments, agencies and localities are required to boost propaganda to increase public awareness of the Party and State's guidelines on preferential policies for people with meritorious services to the revolution; honor groups and individuals with considerable contributions to gratitude activities; fully and properly implement preferential policies and programs to take care of revolutionaries and their relatives, and build specific plans for the anniversary celebration.

Especially, the focus will be on ensuring benefits and monthly allowances for revolutionaries with the allowance increase which takes effect from July 1; giving gifts authorized by the State President and the province to revolutionaries; mobilizing resources for meritorious services, fully implementing support policies on education, health care, employment and so on for revolutionaries’ children; supporting the construction and repair of houses for revolutionaries in need; upgrading of martyrs' graves and memorial constructions, etc.
