Two-day state funeral for Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong

A state funeral for the late Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong is scheduled to be held on July 25 and 26. During the mourning period, offices and other public places will fly flags at half-mast and all public entertainment events will be suspended.

General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong passed away due to old age and serious illness at 1:38 p.m. on July 19, 2024 in Hanoi, aged 80. During 60 years in his career, he had made outstanding contributions to the glorious revolutionary cause of the Party and the people.

He was awarded the Gold Star Order and the 55-year Party membership badge by Vietnamese Communist Party and the State along with several national and international awards.
