The memorial service for General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong was held at the National Funeral Hall, No. 5 Tran Thanh Tong Street, Hanoi City on the afternoon of July 26.

At the same time, the memorial service took place at the Independence Palace, Ho Chi Minh City and in his hometown of Dong Hoi Commune, Dong Anh District, Hanoi City.

General Secretary Nguyễn Phú Trọng's casket is escorted in a solemn and respectful ceremony by his family, Party and State leaders.

During the two days of the state funeral, as many as 6,000 delegations with 200,000 people from local departments, organizations, localities, people’s armed forces, people at home and abroad together with 100 international dignitaries paid their respects and sent condolences to the family of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and his native commune.

Nearly 500,000 residents sent condolences to General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong’s family in the online funeral book.  Many high-ranking leaders and people from many countries sent telegrams with respects to General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and condolences to his family.
