Cozy Trade Union meals

Over the years, the Trade Union at all levels in Khanh Hoa Province has mobilized agencies and enterprises to support and organize the "Trade Union Meal" program for workers launched by the General Confederation of Labor. The program has shown the enterprises and Trade Union's responsibilities for taking better care of members and workers.

Improving the quality of shift meals

The "Union Meal" for more than 500 workers of the French Female Apparel Development Company Limited (Suoi Dau Industrial Park, Cam Lam District) has been recently organized by the Trade Union of Industrial Parks and Economic Zones in coordination with the Trade Union of the French Female Apparel Development Company Limited jointly with businesses. The meal had more dishes than usual with fried shrimp, pork beef, etc. for the main course and vegetables and fruits for dessert. The workers were so excited for the offer.

Le Thi Ha, a worker of the company said, “I have been with the company for nearly 20 years. In addition to implementing the regimes, the company and the union also care about the material and spiritual life of employees. I appreciate it and hope that the company will continue to support and organize many useful activities for workers”.

According to Vo Son, Deputy General Director of the French Female Apparel Development Company, the company cooperated with the union to organize the "Trade Union Meal" (worth more than 50,000 VND/person, up by more than 18,000 VND/person compared to the daily meal) helping improve the quality of the meal as well as an opportunity for employers to understand the thoughts, feelings and expectations of their workers more, thus show the concern, affection and gratitude for workers and keep them on board and stay with the company in the long run.

At the "Trade Union Meal" program held at the Dai Thuan Food Joint Stock Company's Union (Vinh Luong Commune, Nha Trang City), more than 240 union members and employees could enjoy a larger meal than usual with more delicious dishes in a cozy and joyful atmosphere, contributing to strengthening the workplace relationship.

To prepare for the program, in addition to the company's support of VND18,000/person, the Agriculture and Rural Development Trade Union provided an additional VND20,000/person to the meal and awarded 20 thank-you gifts to outstanding members and employees.

In order to show gratitude to union members and workers, the Industry and Trade Union also coordinated with the Trade Union of Viet Phap Company Limited (Dien Phu Industrial Park, Dien Khanh District) to organize the program "Trade Union Meal" (worth VND50,000/person) with the participation of 130 workers.

A worker named Nguyen Thi Hoa said, "the meal is delicious with various nutritious dishes. We also received gifts from the union and the company. I hope the company will have more practical activities like this"...

To be expanded

According to the leaders of the Provincial Federation of Labor, over the past years, the Trade Union at all levels in the province has regularly innovated its operation, following the guideline “Trade Union is present anywhere workers are in need”: The Trade Union at all levels has mobilized and negotiated with employers to improve shift meals for employees. More than 300 businesses have improved their shift meals, up by VND20,000/person or more.

This year, implementing the direction of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, the Provincial Federation of Labor has directed and guided grassroots trade unions at all levels to implement the "Union Meal" program benefiting many workers. Reportedly, up to now, 57 grassroots unions and 10 sector and district-level unions have organized the "Trade Union Meal" program for more than 8,900 members and workers.

According to Tran Thi Huong, Vice-Chairperson of the Provincial Federation of Labor, the "Trade Union Meal" program not only contributes to improving shift meals, creating motivation and enthusiasm for all employees but also demonstrates the role and responsibility of the Trade Union for taking good care of members and employees’ lives; increase employee retention; and build trade union member commitment and participation. In the coming time, the Provincial Federation of Labor will continue to direct trade unions at all levels to expand the program; mobilize and negotiate with employers to enhance the quality of shift meals for employees and contribute to building a productive work environment and harmonious labor relationships, etc.
