Extra vehicles added for travel surge during National Holiday

The travel demand is expected to rise during the coming National Holiday (September 2). Transportation businesses have made plans to ensure sufficient vehicles to serve the busy period.

Meeting travel demand

According to Nha Trang Railway Transport Branch, in order to serve the travel hike on the occasion of the National Day, besides daily trains, there will be additional trains from Ho Chi Minh City to Nha Trang, Quy Nhon; from Nha Trang to Da Nang and vice versa.

According to Nguyen Van Tien, Deputy Director of Nha Trang Railway Transport Branch, trains are added to meet the travel demand expected to increase this holiday. Train tickets are still available. In addition, Nha Trang Southern Coach Station has required transport businesses to get prepared for the possible drastic hike in festive travel demand. The coach has connected 79 coach routes to 28 cities and provinces and 1 interprovincial route meeting the current travel demand. 140 coaches departing from the coach station to other provinces on a normal day are expected to increase to 170 – 175 on the holiday. The coach station has made plans to ensure sufficient vehicles for the holiday service to meet the travel demand, according to Nguyen Cong Hai, Director of Nha Trang Southern Coach Station.

Focusing on passenger safety

According to Ngo Van Dinh, General Director of Khanh Hoa Transport Service Company, the company has requested coach stations to fully implement the procedures to ensure traffic safety, fully check vehicle safety conditions and equipment, including vehicle registration, technical safety and environmental protection certificate, civil liability insurance, GPS trackers, fire extinguishers, emergency hammers and so on.

The Department of Transport requires road transport businesses to have a plan to ensure sufficient vehicles, drivers, and service staff to meet the increased travel demand during the National holiday. Moreover, businesses are instructed to abide by the Road Traffic Law, defining limited driving time.

According to Nguyen Van Dan, Director of Khanh Hoa Department of Transportation, Deputy Head of the Provincial Traffic Safety Committee, the department has asked the Department Inspectorate to proactively develop a plan to handle any traffic jams during the holiday; strengthen coordination with the traffic police to boost patrols and inspection to deal with any traffic law offense, focusing on control on illegal parking, violations related to pick-up or drop-off service; overload, drunk-driving, speeding, etc. contributing to easing gridlock, raising compliance with the traffic law and ensuring travel safety.
