The blood donation day has just been held by Nha Trang Youth Union and Youth Federation at Tran Quoc Toan Junior High School in Nha Trang City, drawing the participation of more than 300 donors giving 252 units of blood. “Blood donation is a meaningful and noble act that helps save lives. Reportedly, the blood donation campaign is regularly jointly organized by Nha Trang Youth Union with the participation of young people. According to Chu Minh Phuong, Acting Secretary of Nha Trang City Youth Union, blood donation has expanded widely among Youth Union members. The City Youth Union jointly organizes 3-4 blood donation drives every year. More and more young people have registered for blood donation, showing their community responsibility. Since 2019, young people have joined blood donation, giving 1,500 units of blood.

To maintain regular and effective blood donation activities, every year, the Provincial Youth Union Standing Committee develops a plan and assigns blood donation targets to provincial youth union affiliations. in the annual action plan. The Youth Union and associations at all levels jointly organized 55 blood donation drives, collecting more than 8,000 blood units in 2023; and 26 blood donation drives with more than 6,400 blood units in the first 6 months of 2024.

Promoting propaganda

The Youth Union and associations at all levels have raised public awareness of blood donation to save lives as well as the risk of blood shortage in emergency care and treatment. Blood donation activities organized by youth union affiliations have attracted a large number of donors among Youth Union members and young people.

In addition, the Youth Union has also participated in many blood donation programs organized by the Red Cross at all levels in coordination with agencies and localities, thereby, spreading the noble act of donating blood to save lives.

According to Vo Dinh Chau, Secretary of the District Youth Union, Vice-Chairman of the Youth Union of Van Ninh District, blood donation has been a highlight in the local youth volunteer movement in recent years.

Since 2019, every year, the District Youth Union - Youth Union of the district organizes propaganda and mobilizes young people to donate blood, exceeding the assigned target; up by 50% in the period of 2019 - 2024.

In the coming time, the Provincial Youth Union as well as all levels of Youth Unions and Associations will continue to promote youth volunteering in blood donation; continue to mobilize Youth Union members to get engaged in blood donation and promote the noble act and its meaning to the public.
