Bustling with excitement for start of new school

These days, all schools are bustling with excitement for the start of the new school year 2024 - 2025. Schools and classrooms are becoming cleaner and more beautiful, and teachers and students are excited to enter the new school year with new hopes and expectations.

Investment in school facilities

According to Le Duy, Principal of Ngo Gia Tu Junior High School (Ninh Hoa Town), in the new school year, the school has 10 classes with 392 students. The school has built 8 new rooms; and repaired the administrative building and 12 classrooms with a total investment of VND6.7 billion, creating favorable conditions for teaching and learning, especially improving the quality of teaching subjects according to the 2018 General Education Curricular.

Thanks to VND4 billion in funding from the district budget, Son Trung Primary School (Khanh Son District) has just built 4 new functional rooms. In the near future, the school will continue to invest in building a guard room and restrooms, fences, schoolyard, etc. at a total cost of VND2 billion to meet the national standards level 1.

According to Principal Nguyen Canh, the school has 241 students, of whom nearly 90% are ethnic minority children living in financial hardship. In Khanh Son District, 7 schools have been constructed, repaired and improved in teaching equipment with a total capital of VND96.5 billion, helping to improve the quality of teaching and learning.

School facilities for the new school year have also been invested in other localities. This school year, Cam Ranh City has invested in 24 constructions at 23 schools and teaching equipment at Cam Ranh Boarding School for Ethnic Minorities with a total cost of VND70.1 billion.

Dien Khanh District has invested more than 59 billion in building and repairing 17 schools, of which 9 projects have been completed. In Khanh Vinh District, some projects have been completed and the rest are expected to finish this September and October.

In Nha Trang City, several constructions have been completed and put into use in the new school year, including the construction of Thai Nguyen Junior High School and Ly Thai To Junior High School (phase 2) with a total cost of more than VND116.8 billion.

In Cam Lam District, Hoa Mi Kindergarten is building 4 classrooms, an administrative building, and a kitchen expected to be put into use this December. To meet the requirements of the new curricula, 9/19 primary schools in Cam Lam District have invested in the construction of computer rooms. The Division of Education and Training has provided consultancy for the district People's Committee to attract public participation in funding 180 computers, desks and chairs at 15 schools with a cost of VND2 billion and so on.

11 projects at senior high schools have been developed with a total cost of more than VND53.6 billion, including Nguyen Thai Hoc High School, Hoang Hoa Tham High School (Dien Khanh District) thanks to the funding from the National Target Program on New Rural Development; the Provincial Boarding School for Ethnic Minorities from the National Target Program on Ethnic Minorities and Mountainous Areas and the remaining 8 projects are funded by the provincial budget.

Improving infrastructures and teaching staff

According to Vo Hoan Hai, Director of Khanh Hoa Department of Education & Training, the entire provincial education and training sector is striving to overcome difficulties and determined to fulfill the tasks and take solutions set for the 2024-2025 school year, focusing on implementing solutions to effectively deploy the 2018 General Education Program in all grades and getting well-prepared for the 2025 High School Graduation Exam based on the new curricula; continue to invest in facilities; teaching staff to assure sufficient teaches and teaching quality, focusing on maintaining the quality of mass education, improving gifted education, including implementing phase 2 (building a gymnasium, auditorium, etc.) of Le Quy Don High School for the Gifted (Nha Trang City); promote digital transformation, apply information technology in management, teaching and learning. At the beginning of the new school year, the Department of Education and Training will inaugurate the Provincial Education and Training Management Center.

Currently, the province has more than 520 kindergartens, general schools and centers. In 2024, the entire provincial education and training sector will invest nearly VND675.4 billion in school infrastructures; and nearly VND62 billion in teaching equipment. In the coming time, the sector will invest in equipment with an estimated cost of more than VND140 billion to meet the 2018 General Education Program at high schools.

Reportedly, the Department of Education and Training has provided consultancy for the Provincial People's Committee to submit a resolution on the exemption of tuition fees at public general schools in the province in the 2024-2025 school year to the Provincial People's Council.
