This year’s "Loving and affectionate" Moon Festival has just been celebrated to bring joyful and warm festive moments to kids in Khanh Hoa Province, especially those on islands and in remote areas.
Provincial leaders and representatives of local departments, agencies and the Youth Union celebrate a Moon Festival for kids in remote and disadvantaged areas every year. This year’s Moon Festival night also included sharing the losses and sufferings with the Typhoon Yagi victims.

At the recent festive celebration in Ninh Son Commune, Ninh Hoa Town, kids had great fun and excitement. Ninh Son Primary School was lit up with colorful lanterns in the school yard together with an eye-catching tray of fruits and candies for 200 kids to enjoy and a quiz to challenge themselves and have fun. “Lanterns and trays of fruits are so cute. I feel so excited,” said Nguyen Hai Dang, 5A3 Class, Ninh Son Primary School.
At the warm Moon Festival, the children listened to the provincial leaders reading the Mid-Autumn Festival letter of greetings from General Secretary and President To Lam to the children; encouraging them to study harder. Then, kids had lots of fun enjoying a moon night feast together.
Provincial leaders and Youth Union members offered more than 700 gifts and 20 scholarships to disadvantaged students, contributing to a meaningful and unforgettable Moon Festival celebration.
The Moon Festival in Diep Son Island, Van Thanh Commune, Van Ninh District was celebrated in the daytime instead of at night. Pham Van Bao Anh, class 3, Van Thanh Primary and Junior High School, Diep Son said, “We are so delighted to enjoy the unicorn dance during the Moon Festival. Besides, the organizing board also offered more than 100 gifts containing lanterns and candies worth VND200,000 each. We make a great effort to bring festive moments and meaningful gifts to the kids here,” said Huynh Thi Nhu Y, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Comrade Association.

Besides, Dien Son Island, Khanh Hoa Youth Union and Provincial Comrade Association jointly held a Moon Festival in Ninh Van Commune, Ninh Hoa Town, Binh Hung Primary and Junior High School, Cam Binh Commune, Cam Ranh City in order to bring gifts to kids on the islands.
At Yersin Nha Trang General Hospital, Nha Trang Youth Union in association with the Provincial Youth Union offered 100 gifts worth VND150,000 each to kid patients and 5 scholarships worth VND500,000 each to kids. Earlier, the Youth Union of the Provincial Agencies had presented 10 gifts to kid patients.
At Vung Ngan Island (Nha Trang City), Nha Trang City Youth Union in coordination with the Youth Union - Women's Union - Nha Trang City Police Union also brought the warm Mid-Autumn to the children with gifts, 5-star lanterns and a Moon night feast.

Moreover, during this year’s Autumn festival, local departments and units have held practical activities to share burdens and sufferings with kids in Typhoon-stricken communities. At the Moon Festival 2024 program organized by Dien Khanh District Youth Union, Youth Union Council and Children's House on September 14, a support campaign was launched with more than VND7.3 million donated in support of typhoon victims.
Tan Lap 2 Primary School, Nha Trang City, decided to cut down entertainment activities to save money to support those struggling with damages and losses caused by the powerful Typhoon Yagi. Principal Vo Thi Thanh Binh, said: "Instead of a lion dance and musical performance, this year’s Mid-Autumn Festival focused on giving gifts and scholarships to students in need; and launching a support campaign among all teachers, students and their parents to join hands and contribute to the those in need."
Sharing and support are being done in various ways to give kids fun and contribute to helping the Moon Festival more meaningful.
