Relief transport to storm-stricken communities

The trip carrying aid packages with kindness and sharing from people in Ninh Hoa Town, officially set off on September 20 heading to Bac Giang Province to help residents struggling with damages and losses caused by powerful Typhoon Yagi.

Ninh Hoa Town Red Cross staff and volunteers had been busy calling for donations and packing goods and necessities for typhoon-stricken communities in the northern provinces.

Nguyen Phi Co, Chairman of the Ninh Hoa Town Red Cross said that in response to the call of the Fatherland Front and authorities at all levels, the town Red Cross has mobilized and collected donations for over a week. With a kind heart of sharing, individuals and businesses have joined hands to help people affected by the natural disaster.

After nearly 10 days, until September 20, the Red Cross had received 20 tons of goods worth nearly VND366 million, containing personal items, processed food, milk, bird's nest drinks, candies, rice, instant noodles, some common medicines, etc. In addition, Ninh Hoa Town Red Cross also donated VND70 million to build a house for the needy in Bac Giang.

 
 

After the fundraising, a relief group was established, consisting of 3 members led by Le Thanh Ninh, Vice-Chairman of Ninh Hoa Red Cross;  and other volunteers named Nguyen Tan Thanh, a car owner and driver; and Nguyen Van Thao, a driver (residing in Dai Cat 1 village Ninh Phung Commune). They voluntarily transported relief goods to Bac Giang Province.

They hoped to share burdens and sufferings with typhoon-stricken communities in the northern provinces to help them recover from the natural disaster.

Reportedly, the transportation was initially scheduled to start on September 18. However, due to the passing of Thanh’s relative, the trip was postponed for two days. Thanh set aside his personal grief to take on his duty to continue the relief journey. Leaders from the People’s Committee and the Front of Ninh Hoa Town were present at the departure to offer encouragement and wished them a safe transportation to Bac Giang.
