Advanced educational approaches applied at kindergartens

In recent years, many kindergartens in Nha Trang City have applied advanced educational methods in activities for kids to trigger their interest and motivation in learning.

Tan Lap 1 Kindergarten participate in learning activities using the Reggio Emilia educational method.

Educational method innovation

Getting access to the Reggio Emilia approach, Tan Lap 1 Kindergarten has arranged separate areas based on various themes. In the art room, children can explore and let their imaginations run wild to make their own items. In the light room, children can explore different types of light with unique and vivid colors. To the left of the school stage is a singing competition. Some are interested in making homemade cakes while others are taking the role of construction workers to build a mini house in the middle of the schoolyard; playing the "magic table" game in the fairy garden; growing succulents in the corner of nature...

According to Ha Thi Hong Tuyen, Acting Vice-Principal of Tan Lap 1 Kindergarten, children benefit a lot from the Reggio Emilia approach, a student-centered and constructivist self-guided curriculum through exploration, discovery and play. Despite challenges due to lack of facilities, the school has determined to apply the new educational methods suitable for ages and stages of development.

To apply the STEAM educational method, Huong Duong Kindergarten has created conditions for teachers to access new learning materials on STEAM, and invested in building a flexible and multifunctional learning space that is environmentally friendly to stimulate curiosity and creativity. In particular, the school has invested in building a specialized STEAM classroom for children to access science, technology, art and mathematics activities naturally. The classroom has corners for science, art and engineering. Outdoor areas have been also renovated with a fairy garden, a countryside market, a vegetable garden, a children's garden, a pottery-making area, a sand and water play area, etc. where kids can observe and explore nature.

At Loc Tho 1 Kindergarten, the school has also applied the STEAM educational method in building an educational environment. Nguyen Thi Viet Ha, Principal of the school said that the classes have designed activities suitable for the developmental characteristics of each age, focusing on group activities, creating opportunities for children to get hands-on activities, develop their language better and know how to cooperate and share with others.

Organizing creative and fun activities for kids

According to Pham Thi Chau Anh, Deputy Head of Nha Trang City Department of Education and Training, in recent years, preschools have made breakthroughs in childcare and education. Many schools have actively approached advanced educational methods in organizing educational activities such as Montessori, Reggio Emilia; Glenn Doman, Steiner and STEAM. The approaches vary among schools but initially have shown positive results, contributing to improving the quality of childcare and education.

According to Ha Van Thong, Head of the Department of Preschool and Primary Education of the Department of Education and Training, advanced educational methods are applied at many preschools in Nha Trang City in line with the current educational trend, especially in the context of preparing for the piloting of the new preschool education program in which childcare and educational activities are harmoniously combined.
