Cam Ranh City People's Committee has focused on implementing support policies for ethnic minority students to ensure financial support to cover school meals, study costs, uniforms and scholarships goes to 100% of those entitled.
In the 2022-2023 school year, 3,780 ethnic minority students in Cam Ranh City have received grants totaling nearly VND8 billion, including scholarships for 1,986 students; school lunches for 135 students; tuition aid for 1,005 students; study-related grants for 622 students and financial aid for 32 disabled students.
In the 2023-2024 school year, 3,055 students in the city received grants worth nearly VND9.5 billion, including scholarships for 1,685 students; school lunches for 147 students; tuition aid for 698 students; study-related grants for 497 students; and financial aid for 28 disabled students.

With efforts in implementing support policies for ethnic minority students, in the 2022 - 2023 school year, the total number of ethnic minority preschool children mobilized to attend class was 329/634, reaching 51.9%; the number of underweight malnourished children was decreased to 17 from 119; the number of stunted malnourished children down to 29 from 67.
According to Vo Thi Kim Thoa, Permanent Vice-Chairwoman of Cam Ranh City People's Council, the City People's Council's supervision delegation has recently supervised the implementation of support policies for ethnic minority students in Cam Ranh City in the 2022-2023 and 2023-2024 school years.
The results showed that the implementation of policies has had a positive impact on the learning process of ethnic minority students. Specifically, the quality and learning outcomes have improved year by year; the rate of malnourished children and students graded average and below have decreased; student attendance has improved consistently; the dropout rate has been reduced; school boarding and lunches have improved; the quality of learning has gradually increased every year.
According to Ngo Huu Hien, Vice-Chairman of Cam Ranh City People's Committee, in the coming time, the city will request relevant professional departments to provide consultancy for the City People's Committee to propose to the Department of Education and Training, the Provincial People's Committee to submit to the Provincial People's Council to consider the increase in financial assistance for lunch and milk for ethnic minority preschool children to help improve school meals and enhance students’ health.
When the 2024 civil servant recruitment results are issued, Cam Ranh City People's Committee will arrange enough staff for schools with ethnic minority students in the two communes of Cam Thinh Tay and Cam Phuoc Dong to ensure full-day classes and boarding meals.
The city will also direct localities with ethnic minority students to coordinate with the Department of Education and Training and schools to mobilize ethnic minority kids to go to school; and boost public participation in study grants to cover tuition, clothing and books for ethnic minority students in need.
