Recyclable waste collection

Under Nha Trang City People’s Committee’s guidance, from 2025 onwards, household solid waste is required to be sorted at the source in 100% of communes, wards and towns in Nha Trang City. State agencies, political organizations, and socio-political ones in Nha Trang City have started solid domestic waste classification at source to enhance environmental actions.

Nha Trang Urban Environment Joint Stock Company’s recyclable waste collection team founded in November operates from 7:00 am to 11:30 am. The garbage trucks marked with the slogan “waste recycling for a green environment” stop at State agencies and office buildings.

Waste is brought to a plant of Luong Hoa Landfill.

Classified dustbins are put at State agencies in Nha Trang City. Workers of Nha Trang Urban Environment Joint Stock Company collect and bring recyclable waste to a plant of Luong Hoa Landfill, Vinh Luong Commune where the waste continues to be classified into white bags for proper treatment. The company has provided agencies with white bags to keep recyclable waste. However, some do not have proper waste collection so more waste classification is needed to increase the amount of waste that is recycled.

According to Tran Thi Thu Trang, Director of THC Tourism Service Trading Co., Ltd., the investor of V-Hotel Hotel, there is a domestic solid waste storage area in the hotel basement with classified garbage bins to keep recyclable waste and food leftovers separately.

For the remaining waste, the hotel has contracts with Nha Trang Urban Environment Joint Stock Company to collect and treat waste properly according to regulations with the garbage collection time from 17:00 to 21:00 daily.

According to Nguyen Truong Nhat Nguyen, Vice-Chairman of Vinh Thai Commune People’s Committee, the locality offered 5 waste classification bins to local agencies and schools, 140 classified waste bins to 70 households in the commune. The commune has issued a waste classification plan at source in the commune, especially in urban areas, residential areas, trade centers, supermarkets, markets, office buildings, etc.

According to Tran Minh Chien, Chairman of Nha Trang City People’s Committee, towards compulsory waste classification from January 1, 2025 and green transformation green growth 2024 - 2030”, the city People’s Committee has issued a plan on solid waste classification for tourism businesses, organizations and households and the campaign against the use of single-use plastics and disposable plastic bags.

In the coming time, Nha Trang City People's Committee will continue to implement synchronous and practical solutions, create favorable conditions to attract investors in modern waste treatment technologies and maximize recycling efficiency.

Local agencies, businesses and residents in the city need to get engaged in waste sorting, initially into two types, recyclable waste and other household waste, to increase recycling; limit the use of plastic bags and disposable plastic products in daily life and at work; and develop creative and effective models of environmental protection, contributing to promoting green living in the community.
