70% of traffic accidents attributed to non-compliance with traffic regulations
In 2024, the Traffic Police has drastically and synchronously strengthened traffic safety measures; and mobilized all resources to reduce traffic accidents to the lowest level. In particular, high-peak patrols were conducted to monitor traffic violations, targeting handling drunk-driving, speeding and overloading offenses.
In addition, the Department of Transport has implemented comprehensive solutions to ensure traffic safety such as conducting road maintenance; and handling "black spots" or high-risk locations for traffic crashes on provincial roads and national highways entrusted to the department for management.
In 2024, the number of fatalities from traffic accidents decreased but the number of injuries saw a significant rise. Investigation results indicated that over 70% of traffic accidents were attributed to non-compliance with traffic regulations.
Focus on propaganda to raise public awareness
To effectively implement traffic safety tasks in 2025, the Provincial Traffic Safety Board requested departments, agencies, localities and socio-political organizations of the province to continue strengthening the direction of ensuring traffic safety; synchronously and effectively implement the traffic safety theme "Safety First" in 2025.
In particular, member units and localities need to continue to promote propaganda and mobilize people to voluntarily comply with the law on traffic safety, focusing on key points such as not driving after drinking alcohol; not driving over speed; not driving in the wrong lane, etc.
According to Chu Van An, Deputy Director of the Department of Transport, Deputy Chief of the Provincial Traffic Safety Board, to reduce road crashes, it is essential to improve identified black spots, and strengthen patrols to monitor traffic violations targeted at handling drunk-driving, speeding and overloading offenses.
In addition, the Department of Transport requested the agencies and localities to boost patrols along main streets such as National Highway 1, National Highway 26, National Highway 27C and branch roads of Nha Trang - Cam Lam, Cam Lam - Vinh Hao and Van Phong - Nha Trang motorway sections expected to be put into operation on April 30. Hopefully, with the drastic and synchronous solutions, traffic accidents will decrease in all 3 criteria in 2025.
