Spreading kindness for happy New Year

Khanh Hoa Provincial Red Cross at all levels is implementing the "Compassionate New Year" campaign for the spring 2025 to seek donations and give about 37,000 New Year gifts to disadvantaged people, contributing to ensuring no one in need is left behind.

Warm Lunar New Year gifts

In early January, in Dien Khanh District, the Provincial Red Cross launched the "Charitable New Year 2025, presenting 150 gifts, each worth VND450,000 (including necessities and cash) to disadvantaged households, people with disabilities, single parents and poor children in Dien Dien Commune, Dien Khanh District; and funded a house repair with an amount of VND10 million.

Phan Van Thao, Dong 1 Village, Dien Dien Commune said, “My family has 5 members, 2 of whom are sick, so my mom has to toil tirelessly to support the whole family. I am sick so I can't help either. This gift will help ease her expenses for the coming Lunar New Year."

Ho Thi Ngoc Sang's family (Ninh Son Commune, Ninh Hoa Town) receives a new house before Tet.

Implementing the program "Charity New Year", since December 2024, the Red Cross at all levels has deployed activities to give New Year gifts to families in need. In mid-December, the Red Cross of Ninh Hoa Town mobilized the Sun Math Company - Ninh Hoa Branch to offer 40 New Year gifts, worth VND16 million to 2 Vietnamese Heroic Mothers and war invalids in the communes and wards of Ninh Tho, Ninh Phung and Ninh Ha.

According to Le Thanh Ninh, Vice-Chairman of Ninh Hoa Town Red Cross, this year, the town Red Cross at all levels was assigned to reach the target of 7,000 gifts for the needy to ensure that no disadvantaged person is left without support during the New Year holiday.

Besides the New Year gifts, the construction of 15/19 houses funded by the Steering Committee of the Campaign “Every organization and every individual is associated with a charity address" has been completed and will be handed over to the needy before the Lunar New Year.

The poor family of Ho Thi Ngoc Sang (Ninh Son Commune, Ninh Hoa Town) received a new house in November 2024. She said, “I am very happy because this year my family will be able to welcome the new year in a new house. The cost is more than VND85 million, including VND60 million from the Golf Association and the rest from the Provincial Red Cross Association, the locality and my family. At the handover ceremony, my family also received gifts containing a rice cooker, necessities and cash from the locality and sponsors”. The remaining 4 houses will be handed over to the needy in January 2025, ensuring that they will start the new year in a new home.

Approximately 37,000 New Year gifts to be given

According to Phan Dinh Huan, Vice-Chairman in charge of the Provincial Red Cross,  the "Humane New Year campaign continues the "New Year for the poor and Agent Orange victims" campaign launched by the Central Red Cross implemented by the Provincial Red Cross for over 20 years to connect and seek donations to provide material and spiritual assistance for the poor and vulnerable people during the New Year Holiday. The message of this year's campaign is "Humane New Year, Spreading love, Connecting the community".

Representatives of sponsoring units offer gifts to the people of Dien Dien Commune, Dien Khanh District.

Furthermore, the campaign has also expanded to reach more in need, including those with disabilities, poor patients, families affected by natural disasters and epidemics; homeless, vulnerable people and foreigners living in Khanh Hoa. According to the plan, for the Lunar New Year 2025, the Red Cross at all levels strives to care for and offer 37,000 gifts, worth VND300,000 each or more from January 7 to 26, 2025. The total minimum value of the campaign is expected to reach more than VND11 billion. More than 17,000 gifts have been given so far.

Committed to ensuring every poor or disadvantaged person receives a New Year gift, the "Compassionate New Year" campaign and humanitarian activities carried out by organizations and individuals will contribute to helping the disadvantaged to have a happy New Year.
