Warm and fulfilled New Year for Trade Union members and workers

Activities to care for workers during the New Year holiday are being held by the Trade Union at all levels in Khanh Hoa Province across the province. New Year gifts along with meaningful programs have contributed to meeting the goal of ensuring all union members and workers have a warm, joyful and happy Tet.

Happy New Year for all

The New Year fair organized by Nha Trang City Labor Federation in coordination with Co.opmart Nha Trang Supermarket for Trade Union members has more than 100 essential products such as food, cosmetics, utensils, clothing, household appliances and so on.

Nguyen Khac Toan, Permanent Deputy Secretary of Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of Provincial People’s Council presents New Year gifts to employees.

Luong Thi Anh Tuyet, a cleaner at Van Thanh Primary School, Nha Trang City was happy to receive 10% - 70% discounts on products she bought. “I have been working as a school cleaner for 3 years with a monthly salary of nearly VND4 million. My husband works as a textile worker with a low salary. With 2 children, we are struggling to make ends meet. The Lunar New Year is coming, and I'm really stressed about Lunar New Year. preparations. Thanks for the discount offer, I have bought enough for the Lunar New Year with only VND400,000. I’m so happy,” she said.

According to Vo Phi Hai, Deputy Director of Co.opmart Nha Trang Supermarket, this year, the supermarket has reserved more than 100 products totaling more than VND400 million selling at discount prices to union members and employees so that everyone has a warm and fulfilled New Year holiday.

Khanh Hoa Salanganes Nest State-owned One Member Co., Ltd. organized a non-profit booth at the Salanganes Nest Specialty Processing Factory (Dien Phu Industrial Park, Dien Khanh District), displaying more than 300 essential products such as rice, cooking oil, soy sauce, fish sauce, detergent, shampoo.

Nguyen Tan Thong, a Viet Phap Company Limited worker, said, "The products sold here are of good quality and low price, so we have plenty of choices shopping for Tet. Hopefully, such activities will expand to reach more workers."

Especially, this year, the Provincial Federation of Labor organized the Union Tet Market program with 25 booths offering 10% to 70% discounts on essential goods and 5 others offering more than 1,100 New Year gifts to Union members and workers.

Ngo Thanh Binh, a worker at Rapexco Dai Nam One Member Co., Ltd. (Suoi Dau Industrial Park) said, "This is the first time I have joined such a meaningful and practical Tet market program. I have received gifts together with discount shopping for Tet."

Local authorities and organizations are putting all their effort into bringing a warm Lunar New Year to all social welfare beneficiaries and those in need.

Fulfilled New Year

More than 1,000 union members and workers in need gathered around the year-end meal and shared the joys and sorrows in daily life. Workers also received gifts, lucky money, and New Year wishes from provincial and union leaders; and watched lion dances and exciting performances.

Vo Thi Khanh, a worker at Gallant Ocean Vietnam Co., Ltd. said, “I am very happy to be with everyone in a warm atmosphere. In addition to the year-end meal, we also received gifts from the Union, lucky money, and free shopping vouchers from businesses.” Khanh's family is in a difficult situation. Her husband is ill and unemployed, and their youngest son is suffering from a congenital heart disease. The family relies solely on her salary of over VND6 million per month.

Huynh Thi Van, a worker at Komega-X Company Limited said, "The Lunar New Year holiday is an occasion for family reunion. However, this year due to financial hardship, I won’t return to Ha Tinh to celebrate the New Year with our parents and relatives. The program organized by the Union made me happy and helped ease my homesickness. I would like to send the best wishes to everyone, every family in the New Year; I hope the company will grow and prosper, leading to increased income for all employees."

In addition, many grassroots Trade Unions in the province have provided travel grants for union members and workers back to their hometowns. This year, the Trade Union of HD Hyundai Vietnam Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. continues to travel grants for 600 workers to return home, VND200,000 to 400,000/person (depending on the distance).

According to Phan Thanh Liem, Chairman of the Provincial Federation of Labor, the union at all levels has mobilized all resources to ensure all union members and workers have a joyful New Year holiday. During this Tet holiday, the provincial union has allocated more than 2,500 gifts worth VND1 million/gift to union members in need. Besides, the union has organized the program "Lunar New Year get-together program" and the union Lunar New Year fair with many products offered free or on discount for union members. The union also organized delegations of provincial leaders to visit and give New Year gifts to more than 700 union members and workers. Up to now, the union at all levels has allocated about VND57 billion in support of the Lunar New Year caring for more than 10,000 union members and workers. The support for the Lunar New Year celebration for Youth Union members and workers is ongoing and being widely promoted.

At the recent program Lunar New Year get-together program organized by the Provincial Labor Federation at Dien Phu Industrial Zone, Nguyen Khac Toan, Permanent Deputy Secretary of Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of Provincial People’s Council highly appreciated the efforts of the Union in New Year celebration and care for union members and workers. He requested that the Trade Union at all levels would continue to widely implement activities to take care of members, especially those in difficult circumstances; promote the spirit of responsibility, solidarity, and creativity, organize many practical activities, ensure the timely payment of salaries and bonuses; organize patriotic emulation campaigns and labor safety and hygiene campaigns; and promote awareness of raw material conservation in industrial parks.
