Cultivating excellent penmanship

Khanh Hoa Department of Education and Training has just organized the 2024 - 2025 Provincial Handwriting Competition for primary school children. This event provided an environment that motivated children to practice handwriting, develop good handwriting habits, and foster their respect for the beauty of their native language.

Practicing writing.

Skillful handwriting acquired through practice and structured learning

At the handwriting competition, contestants' consistently sized and shaped letters were really appealing to the eyes. Especially in the creative handwriting category, children showed their unique styles through their intricate and imaginative elegant script. The pieces of work are also believed to reveal their ersonality and creativity, which was truly impressive.

Phan Le Ngoc Bich, grade 4, Phuong Sai Primary School, Nha Trang City, one of the 9 first prize winners says writing by hand helps develop patience and build confidence to learn better. Writing by hand allows children to express their creativity and personality and build confidence in their abilities.

Beautifully handwritten notebooks, skillful technical products, STEM products of students and teaching aids of teachers were also displayed, demonstrating the ingenuity and meticulousness of teachers and students. Many highlighted the features of their localities such as the Tram Huong Tower in Nha Trang, the Citadel in Dien Khanh, the peaceful Dinh River in Ninh Hoa, Mui Doi in Van Ninh, the Gac Ma Soldier Memorial in Cam Lam, and the Spratly and Paracel Islands.

Developing good habits

Teaching handwriting skills to primary school children requires the efforts of teachers and children as well. It involves orientation, habit training, guidance on writing techniques and ultimately progresses to beautiful and creative writing. It is really an art that requires not only skills but also passion and patience.

Nguyen Thi Thanh Tam, Principal of Cam Duc 1 Primary School (Cam Lam District), said, "Practicing handwriting helps promote carefulness, orderliness, and patience and fosters their artistic talent and creativity. To motivate children to practice writing, teachers regularly praise those with beautiful handwriting every week. The school rewards excellent penmanship monthly in the "Clean Notebooks and Beautiful Handwriting” campaign.

According to Ha Van Thong, Head of the Division of Preschool and Primary Education of the Department of Education and Training, primary schools in the province have maintained the campaign on beautiful handwriting and clean notebooks, organized handwriting clubs and various activities for children to practice writing.
