On March 1, Alexandre Yersin Admirers’ Association of Khanh Hoa Province held a memorial service to commemorate the 82nd death anniversary of Dr. Alexandre Yersin (March 1, 1943 - 2025).
At the memorial ceremony, provincial leaders and delegates offered incense and paid tribute to Dr. A. Yersin, visited his grave, office and national memorial site in Suoi Cat Commune, Cam Lam District.

Doctor A. Yersin made significant contributions to Vietnamese medicine and agriculture, along with great achievements in the journey of exploration to discover new lands in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
He also conducted experiments on many types of industrial and medicinal plants grown in Suoi Dau and Hon Ba. He is best known for his discovery of the bacterium responsible for the bubonic plague and the foundation of Pasteur Nha Trang and Hanoi Medical School.
Doctor A. Yersin was born in Switzerland on September 22, 1863. He settled down in the coastal city of Nha Trang in 1891 and spent the rest of his life in Nha Trang.
Dr. Yersin was posthumously awarded the title of Honorary Citizen of Vietnam by the Vietnamese Government in 2013. Many constructions, schools and streets in Vietnam were named after him.
