Efforts to speed up highway projects

Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long led a working delegation on March 12 to inspect the Van Phong - Nha Trang Expressway Project and the Khanh Hoa - Buon Ma Thuot Expressway Project (component project 1); and worked with the provinces of Khanh Hoa, Phu Yen and Dak Lak to to address and remove obstacles related to key transport projects.

Land clearing challenges

Working with the delegation were Nghiem Xuan Thanh, Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of Khanh Hoa Provincial Party Committee; Dinh Van Thieu, Vice-Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee and leaders of Phu Yen and Dak Lak provinces.

According to the Provincial People's Committee, the Van Phong - Nha Trang Expressway Project, spanning 83.35 kilometers, involves an investment of over VND11,808 billion. Launched on January 1, 2023, the project is on track for completion by December 2025. Over 70km, accounting for 91% of the project, has been completed, which is 11% ahead of the contractual schedule. Project Management Board 7 is expediting the construction of the remaining 13 km.

For the Khanh Hoa - Buon Ma Thuot Expressway Project, the People's Committee of Ninh Hoa Town has handed over the site for actual construction of 28.69km/31.5km (reaching 91.1%) with an area of ​​210ha/228.17ha (reaching 92%).

The project site clearance is currently facing delays in 16 sections. The People's Committee of Ninh Hoa Town is reviewing the cases for resettlement and implementing compensation and support according to the instructions of the Provincial People's Committee. The People's Committee of Ninh Hoa Town is striving to complete the land clearance 14 sections (2.2km) of 20km within the 3,000km of expressway due to be completed by the end of 2025 before March 30.

According to Dang Huu Tai, Director of the Provincial Management Board of Investment and Construction Projects for Agricultural and Transport Constructions, to meet the Prime Minister's schedule of completing the 20km by the end of 2025, the People's Committee of Ninh Hoa Town must expedite and finalize site clearance, ensuring handover by March 30.

Site clearance accelerated

Speaking at the working session with the delegation, Secretary of Khanh Hoa Provincial Party Committee Nghiem Xuan Thanh noted that when the expressways are expected to open up opportunities for socio-economic development, creating jobs for local people.

Khanh Hoa Province has made efforts to hand over the site early for the Van Phong - Nha Trang Expressway Project, contributing to the project being 6 months ahead of schedule. The Khanh Hoa - Buon Ma Thuot Expressway Project is currently facing obstacles with site clearance, so the province has directed Ninh Hoa Town to find a solution to hand over the site by the end of March 2025. In order for Khanh Hoa to achieve its double-digit growth target, the province hopes the Nha Trang - Da Lat Expressway Project will be approved soon; Van Phong Airport will be included in the national airport system; ministries and sectors will give support and guidance for the province to complete the dossiers to adjust land use indicators for the period up to 2030, creating conditions for socio-economic development.

Concluding the working session, Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long commended the efforts of ministries and localities in implementing expressway projects. The Deputy Prime Minister urged settlement of site clearance for Khanh Hoa – Buon Ma Thuot to meet the progress by 2025; Khanh Hoa Province to hand over the cleared site for Khanh Hoa - Buon Ma Thuot Expressway Project (component project 1) by March 30 in accordance with the Prime Minister's direction; strive to put 70km of the Van Phong - Nha Trang expressway into operation on April 30. Besides, recommendations raised by Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Nghiem Xuan Thanh will be reported to the Prime Minister for consideration.
