On March 18, Dam Hai Van, Head of Nha Trang Bay Management Board said that Nha Trang Bay Management Board's Conservation Department had just conducted survey on coral reef ecosystem in the Hon Mun area (Nha Trang Bay) and found promising recovery in the coral reef ecosystem.
At the time of the survey on March 14, the height growth of the branched Porites corals, 0.2cm higher, in the southwest area of Hon Mun was recorded. The result is thanks to actions to implement tasks under the Master Plan for Nha Trang Bay Restoration until 2030 issued by the Provincial People's Committee; together with around-the-clock patrols on Nha Trang Bay.
In order to promptly monitor, supervise and proactively respond to the impacts of forecasted extreme weather in the coming time, Nha Trang Bay Management Board will focus on continuing monitoring coral reefs in Nha Trang Bay; urging the completion of the task "Functional zoning of Nha Trang Bay Marine Protected Area"; submitting to specialized agencies for appraisal of the task "Installing buoys to zone and protect coral reefs in the Hon Chong - Dang Tat waters". In addition, warnings and propaganda will be boosted to raise local residents and tourists’ awareness of the protection of the environment and coral reefs.
