Responding to International Day of Happiness

The International Day of Happiness observed annually on March 20 aims to make people around the world realize the importance of happiness in their lives. The 2025 International Day of Happiness themed "Caring and Sharing" reminds us that lasting happiness comes from caring for each other, feeling connected and being part of something bigger.

Based on Decision No. 2589, dated December 26, 2013 by the Prime Minister approving the Project "Organizing activities to celebrate the International Day of Happiness annually on March 20", the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism issued Plan No. 21, dated March 3, 2025 on organizing communication activities in response to the International Day of Happiness 2025.

Happiness comes from small acts in life.

According to Dang Quoc Van, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the People's Committees of districts and towns have developed detailed communication plans for the International Day of Happiness. These include utilizing portals and local radio systems, hosting communication sessions, displaying banners, billboards, and slogans at agency offices, schools, and along major roads; organizing meetings, honoring exemplary cultural families, and organizing artistic performances, competitions, sports events, and folk games for civil servants, students, teachers, and families. Efforts are also focused on assisting individuals in need.

In addition, agencies also organized propaganda activities for the International Day of Happiness in conjunction with local events and anniversaries in March such as International Women's Day (March 8), Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Foundation Day (March 26), Vietnam Sports Day (March 27), etc.

The propaganda has contributed to enhancing the awareness and responsibility of organizations, individuals, families and the whole society regarding the significance of the International Day of Happiness, leading to practical actions aimed at fostering happy families and communities among the Vietnamese people, celebrating the profound values of family, and encouraging all social groups to embrace civilized lifestyles and cultural behaviors within families and communities.

To implement activities in response to this year's International Day of Happiness, in addition to communication activities, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism has directed and guided specialized departments and affiliations; departments of culture, science and information of districts and towns to implement activities based on actual situations.

On this occasion, the department coordinated with Khanh Hoa Radio and Television Station to broadcast reports and talks with experts about family and happiness. Furthermore, the department has directed the provincial Cultural and Cinema Center to launch visual propaganda with banners and mobile propaganda on main streets in Nha Trang City on March 18 - 20.

To promote the significance of the International Day of Happiness, in the coming time, the Department will boost the dissemination of the Party's guidelines, policies, and the State's laws on family tasks; gender equality; care for the elderly; child care and protection, prevention of child abuse; prevention and suppression of social evils in families together with promoting civilized lifestyle and cultural behaviors within families and communities, while preserving the cherished values of Vietnamese families.

Happiness is a journey, not a destination. It begins with small acts of kindness and spreads to those around us, creating a ripple effect of joy and connection.
