Strengthening people-to-people diplomacy

Identified as one of the three pillars of foreign affairs, people-to-people diplomacy has been focused by local authorities, organizations and individuals in Khanh Hoa Province. The Provincial People's Committee has mandated the continuation and enhancement of foreign affairs efforts in the future to advance their accomplishments further.

Strengthening friendship

For nearly 18 years, the VinaCapital Foundation has financed the cost of 487 congenital heart surgeries on children in the province. The VinaCapital Foundation has also coordinated to conduct congenital heart disease screening on more than 3,000 children in Khanh Hoa, thereby detecting 600 cases of congenital heart disease.

In addition, VinaCapital Foundation has also implemented 6 other health and education programs in the province. In particular, the VinaCapital Foundation health capacity building program in cooperation with the Department of Health has provided training more than 100 employees and thousands of medical equipment; organizing the "Opening doors to the future" scholarship program for disadvantaged ethnic minority female students; jointly with social organizations in Khanh Hoa to implement the Dream Trip program, taking 80 children to explore tourist attractions in Khanh Hoa.

In order to strengthen solidarity and friendship, in recent times, the Provincial Union of Friendship Organizations has organized activities such as meeting with overseas Vietnamese and foreigners living and working in the province; New Year visits to overseas Vietnamese, foreigners and foreign non-governmental organizations; organizing delegations of foreigners and overseas Vietnamese to offer incense at Hung King Temple on the occasion of Hung King's death anniversary; friendship exchange activities for Lao and Cambodian students in the province; Moon Festival activities for overseas Vietnamese and foreigners; wreath-laying ceremony at the Vietnam - Russia Friendship Monument in Cam Ranh City, etc. In 2024, the Provincial Union of Friendship Organizations and its member units continued to mobilize foreign non-governmental organizations to fund activities in Khanh Hoa up to USD 241,473.

“The Provincial Union of Friendship Organizations and its affiliations have actively innovated the content and form of activities, encouraging results in people-to-people diplomacy; thus affirming the position and role in people-to-people diplomacy, as well as contributing to the province's general foreign affairs,” said Huynh Phuong Minh, Vice-Chairperson and General Secretary of the Provincial Union of Friendship Organizations.

Improving people-to-people diplomacy effectiveness

On February 14, the Provincial People's Committee issued a plan to implement people's foreign affairs in the province in 2025. Provincial leaders requested all levels, sectors, agencies and localities to raise their awareness and responsibilities for this work to improve people-to-people diplomacy in the new situation; contributing to strengthening the great national solidarity; expanding friendship with peoples of countries around the world; promoting the roles and responsibilities of authorities at all levels, the Fatherland Front and socio-political organizations in people's foreign affairs.

The general goal is to contribute to consolidating and expanding international cooperation through people-to-people diplomacy; creating a peaceful and stable environment; and mobilizing external resources for the province's socio-economic development. The Provincial People's Committee also proposed 7 key tasks and solutions to improve people-to-people diplomacy in the province in the coming time.

According to Huynh Phuong Minh, besides implementing its yearly tasks. The Provincial Union of Friendship Organizations will continue implementing the 2025 plan on people-to-people diplomacy assigned by the Provincial People’s Committee.

Specifically, the Provincial Union of Friendship Organizations will preside over the mobilization of foreign organizations and individuals to contribute to the provincial socio-economic development; organize meetings with sponsors; friendship exchange programs for foreign students; and award individuals and organizations in people-to-people diplomacy.

Additionally, the Provincial Union has collaborated with local authorities to enhance foreign information services and actively participate in meetings and exchange activities with friendship organizations and individuals to seek for funding resources.
