Khanh Hoa: Advancing to new development heights

Fifty years ago, on April 2, 1975, cadres, soldiers, and residents rejoiced with deep emotion at the liberation of Khanh Hoa. This triumph marked a pivotal victory in the cause of national and social liberation, led by the Communist Party of Vietnam and President Ho Chi Minh. It stands as a heroic epic in Vietnam’s history and reflects the enduring strength of the Party Committee and people of Khanh Hoa in their journey of national construction and defense.

During the 1975 Spring General Offensive and Uprising, following the resounding victories of the Central Highlands Campaign and the Hue–Da Nang Campaign, the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee seized this historic opportunity by implementing the directive of the Regional Party Committee and preparing for the coordinated liberation of Khanh Hoa Province. Consequently, on April 2, 1975, the army and people of the province, in collaboration with main army units, simultaneously rose up to liberate Khanh Hoa Province. Simultaneously, the army and people of Khanh Hoa, alongside forces from Military Region 5 and the Vietnam People's Navy, successfully liberated the Spratly Archipelago.

The liberation of Khanh Hoa is a brilliant milestone in the golden history of the Party and the people of Khanh Hoa. The glorious victory added to the national strength of the whole country in the Great 1975 Spring Victory for the liberation of Southern Vietnam and National Reunification, paving the way for the nation's journey toward socialism, fulfilling the sacred aspirations of the whole nation and of Uncle Ho.

Half a century has passed; from the land that suffered much from the war, Khanh Hoa has emerged resiliently, achieving remarkable progress and growth. In particular, after nearly 40 years of the Party's innovation policy, the Party Committee, government and people of Khanh Hoa have promoted the heroic tradition, solidarity, dynamism and creativity, especially thanks to the support of the Central Government and priority in terms of mechanisms, policies and resources for development.

Implementing the Politburo's Resolution No. 09 on the construction and development of Khanh Hoa Province till 2030 with a vision till 2045; the policies and guidelines of the Party and the State have steadily propelled Khanh Hoa's remarkable growth to become one of the dynamically developing localities in the South Central region and across the country.

In recent years, closely following the guidelines and policies of the Party and State, with the great efforts of the Party Committee, the Government and the People, Khanh Hoa Province has achieved many important and comprehensive achievements in all fields.

In 2024, Khanh Hoa Province successfully achieved and exceeded all 22 socio-economic targets. In particular, the economic growth rate (GRDP) for the third consecutive year increased by double digits (up 10.16%), ranked among the top 10 localities in the country; state budget revenue reached VND20,443 billion, exceeding the plan by 22.5%. In 2025, the province have set an economic growth target of 10.5%, higher than the target assigned by the Government together with 50 breakthrough tasks. They serve as a solid foundation for Khanh Hoa Province to further accelerate growth in 2025 and strategically pave the way for sustained development throughout the 2026–2030 period.

In addition, the province has focused on implementing strategic breakthroughs associated with the growth models, taking the marine economy as the foundation for development; green economy, circular economy as new growth drivers; and synchronously implementing many important projects. Administrative reform, improving governance and public administration capacity at the provincial level have had positive changes, creating a favorable environment to attract investment resources for development. The province has also promoted digital transformation, information technology application in socio-economic development, foreign affairs activities with other countries and international organizations.

The province has also focused on implementing synchronous measures to fulfil the goal of becoming a centrally-run city by 2030, especially the Khanh Hoa Provincial Plan for the period 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050 approved by the Prime Minister and zoning plans to promote attracting investors, especially strategic ones with a focus in the 3 the key areas of Van Phong Bay, Nha Trang City and Cam Ranh Bay.

In recent times, many cultural and artistic activities of national and international significance have been organized, contributing to promoting the destination of Khanh Hoa. Social and political security are stable and national defense and security are maintained. Poverty reduction efforts have yielded significant results, with Khanh Son and Khanh Vinh districts officially recognized by the Prime Minister in 2025 as having overcome poverty. Additionally, the elimination of temporary and dilapidated housing has been implemented effectively.

Furthermore, the activities of the political system have undergone significant innovations with a particular focus on enhancing cadre competence focusing on improving cadre competence to meet increasingly high requirements in the new situation; building and deploying Key Performance Indicator (KPI) for civil servants. The streamlining of the organizational apparatus of the political has been conducted urgently with high determination.

Khanh Hoa boasts outstanding potentials, opportunities and advantages for rapid and sustainable development, especially in service, tourism, marine economy, and culture sectors, being a growth pole of the country in the South Central region. Promoting the tradition and spirit of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation Day of Khanh Hoa Province, the Party Committee, government and people in the province have united in their efforts to advance the progress of Khanh Hoa as a centrally-run city characterized by peace, happiness, and a high standard of living. These endeavors represent a sincere homage to older generations’ contributions and sacrifices for the homeland progress and prosperity today.
