After 50 years of national reunification, Khanh Hoa Province has become one of the most economically developed localities in the Central Highlands. With a strong foundation, Khanh Hoa is determined to become the nation's growth pole.

Many revolutionary veterans recalled that after 1975, Khanh Hoa and many other southern localities used to face immense post-war challenges. Industrial production was minimal, agriculture remained outdated, and thousands faced poverty. Nha Trang, upgraded to a city in 1977, had limited basic infrastructure with few buildings along Tran Phu Street.

The country's reunification opened a new era. Khanh Hoa people started to join reconstruction by reclaiming land, eliminating poverty, reviving production, and restoring war-torn infrastructure. The economy gradually developed, and people's lives improved significantly. Nha Trang City evolved into a vibrant, modern hub.

Entering the 21st century, Nguyen Tat Thanh Avenue and Pham Van Dong Street were formed connecting with Tran Phu Street to become one of Vietnam’s most beautiful coastal roads running from Cu Hin Pass to Luong Son.

New urban areas such as Vinh Diem Trung, VCN Phuoc Hai, Ha Quang, An Binh Tan have ben built. Today, traveling from Cam Ranh International Airport to the city center, visitors are captivated by the breathtaking harmony of sea and mountains.

Coastal parks, lush coconut trees, luxury hotels, and renowned tourist destinations like Vinpearl and Hon Tam, along with modern commercial hubs such as Nha Trang Center, Vincom, and Nha Trang Gold Coast, have added to the city's landscape.

Over the past 10 years, Khanh Hoa has maintained a relatively high growth rate, with a positive economic structure. Infrastructure has been invested synchronously and the appearance of urban, rural, and mountainous areas has improved. By late 2024, the province's poverty rate had fallen to just 1.26%, with Khanh Son and Khanh Vinh districts officially overcoming poverty. 73/90 communes had met new rural standards, and 85% of the workforce had been trained, with 31% holding degrees or certifications. National defense and security have been maintained, while maritime sovereignty has been further reinforced.

Breakthrough thinking

Despite many achievements, Khanh Hoa is still facing limitations and challenges. On January 28, 2022, the Politburo promulgated Resolution No. 09 on the construction and development of Khanh Hoa Province till 2030 with a vision till 2045. The National Assembly also passed Resolution No. 55/2022 on specific mechanisms and policies for the development of Khanh Hoa province. These are regarded as the "golden keys" for Khanh Hoa to make a breakthrough in the new period.

According to Nguyen Tan Tuan, Deputy Secretary of Khanh Hoa Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee, Secretary of the Party Committee of Provincial People’s Committee, Khanh Hoa aims for continuous high growth in the next 10 years with its GRDP in 2025 striving to reach 10.5% and maintain 11 - 11.5% in the period 2026 – 2030.

The province will give priority to promoting economic growth, restructuring industries associated with growth model innovation, improving competitiveness and resilience; accelerating the disbursement of public investment capital, and striving for the annual disbursement rate of over 95% of the plan.

The province will also attract strategic investors in the fields of industry, urban areas, tourism, logistics, and innovation; enhance the exploitation of opportunities from free trade agreements; develop e-commerce, logistics, maritime transport and aviation.

In addition, Khanh Hoa is focusing on developing dynamic areas, including Nha Trang City, Cam Ranh Bay, Van Phong Economic Zone; accelerating investment in the Ho Chi Minh City - Nha Trang high-speed railway, expanding Cam Ranh International Airport, improving infrastructures serving Van Phong. The province is also accelerating the Khanh Hoa Provincial Planning for the period 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050.

Reflecting on the past 50 years, every step of progress reflects the dedication, wisdom, and aspirations of the Party Committee, Government, and people of Khanh Hoa. From challenging beginnings to the present, Khanh Hoa stands poised for a powerful resurgence, ready to join the nation in embracing a new era of growth and opportunity.

After the Covid-19 pandemic, Khanh Hoa's economy has strikingly recovered with its GRDP in the 2021 - 2024 period growing by an average of 8.1% per year; in particular, up by double digits in the period 2022 - 2024; up by 18.9% (highest nationwide) in 2022; up by 10.17% (4th nationwide) in 2023, and up by 10.16% (7th in the country) in 2024.

The scale of GRDP in 2024 reached VND128.7 trillion, placing 27th in the country. The economic structure shifted towards balance, gradually positioning the province as an emerging growth pole in the South Central Coastal region and Central Highlands.
