Ninh Hoa oriented for development of key industrial and tourist urban areas

According to the recently approved Adjustment Project of Ninh Hoa Town Master Plan to 2040, Ninh Hoa Town is set to transform into a hub of modern industrial urban areas and world-class tourist destinations, ensure high-quality infrastructure and foster socio-economic development.

Development space to be formed

Under the approved project, the existing urban center of Ninh Hoa will be developed into a vibrant cityscape, seamlessly integrating natural landscapes with high-quality public spaces. The open-design Dinh Riverside Street will enhance tourism and services, creating a dynamic hub for community engagement, entertainment, and sightseeing. Meanwhile, the northern part of the town will be dedicated to industrial and seaport expansion, with a focus on container transit ports, general ports, and industrial warehouse complexes that leverage the advantages of deep-water ports.

The urban industrial and tourist space is harmoniously interwoven with mangrove ecosystems and coastal hills, creating a sustainable ecosystem. The southern area bordering Nha Trang City will be developed into modern urban tourist service zones. In particular, Nha Phu Lagoon plays a crucial role in shaping the coastal landscape, creating a unique identity for the coastal urban area. Some existing aquaculture areas will be re-planned, making way for urban development.

The west of Ninh Hoa will be planned as an ecological urban area, reserved for urban and industrial development. The riverside space will be exploited as a green park, a center for ecological residential areas along the river. In addition, there are large-scale industrial clusters along key traffic axes such as the North-South Expressway, Khanh Hoa - Buon Ma Thuot Expressway, and National Highway 26... along with a housing system and essential infrastructures serving residents and workers.

Developing 13 urban subdivisions

In the next development phase, Ninh Hoa is directed to be a green, smart, sustainable urban area, strategically designed to attract investment while advancing technical and social infrastructure development. Accordingly, 13 urban subdivisions will be formed, closely following two main spearheads, namely industrial and service-oriented urban areas and urban tourism hubs.

Accordingly, some typical subdivisions include the new urban center area along Nha Phu Lagoon, more than 1,800 ha with a population of about 9,000 - 11,000 with priority given to the development of trade, services and tourism along the lagoon and associated with forest landscapes; a center for international events and regional marine sports events; tourism and service zone south of Hon Heo Mount, more than 4,200 ha with a population of about 8,500 - 10,000; and an ecological resort area that blends the beauty of mountains and the sea. In industrial areas such as Ninh Xuan, Ninh Sim, Ninh Thuy and Ninh Phuoc, large-scale modern urban and industrial zones will be developed with synchronous infrastructures for housing, transportation, electricity, water, education, health care, culture, sports, etc.

The planning covers nearly 118,000 ha of which, urban construction land accounts for about 17% and the rest is agricultural land and other functions (more than 83%). According to the planning, the town will meet the standards of a type III urban area by 2030 and the population is expected to reach about 450,000 by 2040.

According to Nguyen Thi Hong Hai, Chairperson of Ninh Hoa Town People's Committee, the new planning project is consistent with the development orientation of the province and Van Phong Economic Zone. Accordingly, Ninh Hoa will have modern industrial urban zones, become a center of marine industry, shipbuilding, marine supporting and processing industry; a trade hub seamlessly connecting the Central Highlands and the South Central Coast through a state-of-the-art transportation network; and a regional, national and international tourism service center.
