Ensuring full benefits for employees

Nguyen Tan Tuan, Deputy Secretary of Khanh Hoa Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee, Secretary of the Party Committee of Provincial People’s Committee chaired a meeting and dialogue on May 20 with Trade Union members and workers in the province to better understand their expectations and aspirations.

Also present at the event were Pham Thi Xuan Trang, Vice-Chairperson of the Provincial People's Council, leaders of departments, agencies, localities, enterprises and 250 Trade Union members and workers. At the conference, many practical recommendations related to workers' lives and policies were raised and replied with concise solutions by the provincial leader and representatives of departments and agencies.

With an open and constructive approach, workers submitted 28 petitions, including 13 direct questions, to the provincial leader. Most were about policies for non-professional workers at the commune level after the merging of administrative agencies. Others were about hazardous allowances for medical staff, school staff; access to social housing, social insurance, etc.

According to Nguyen Thanh Son, Deputy Director of the Department of Home Affairs,  non-professional workers at the commune level will be phased out from August 1. The province has assigned localities to consider and arrange suitable jobs in villages and residential groups and propose additional assistance. The representative of the provincial Social Insurance informed of many measures implemented against violations of social insurance at enterprises. The leader of the Department of Health affirmed that medical staff are entitled to toxic allowances and salary increases by 30 - 70%. The representative of the Department of Education and Training will propose supplementing public service allowances for school staff and recommend toxic allowances for school equipment staff.

Regarding social housing, Tran Van Chau, Director of the Department of Construction said that the province has reserved at least 20% of the land in planning areas and industrial parks to build social housing for workers. However, currently, the projects are mostly in urban areas and social housing in industrial parks is still limited. In the coming period, 10 investors are expected to participate in the construction of about 8,000 social houses in industrial parks, meeting the needs of low-income workers.

Speaking at the conference, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Tan Tuan highly appreciated the practical opinions of workers and emphasized that the Trade Union should maintain its role in facilitating communication by conveying workers' recommendations to the authorities. Local departments and agencies are responsible for properly and fully implementing the prescribed policies. The Trade Union must enhance supervision to ensure decent working conditions and improve the quality of life for workers.

Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Tan Tuan also informed that the province is considering policies to support housing, transportation and allowances for civil servants and workers working far after the merging of administrative agencies; fully implement the policy of resignation and termination after administrative restructuring; open vocational training classes to support part-time workers to change careers. Promoting industrial, tourism, and service projects, the province will create favorable conditions for social housing projects to be implemented soon, meeting workers’ needs.

On this occasion, the Provincial Labor Federation awarded housing construction and repair aid totaling VND145 million 3 families in need; and offered 100 aid gifts worth VND700,000 each to Trade Union members and laborers in need. Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper awarded 30 scholarships worth VND1 million each to disadvantaged students.
