Women's Union affiliations in Khanh Hoa Province has recently coordinated to plant and take care of medicinal herb gardens for remedies when needed.
In February 2024, the Women's Union of Ninh Trung Commune, Ninh Hoa Town launched a campaign for its members to "Plant trees and medicinal herbs" at the commune health station. Utilizing the available land at the health station, women's union members planted over 30 types of trees, including medicinal herbs like mugwort, dandelion, dill, musk, turmeric, aloe vera, lemon basil, and more. Each type is planted in a separate pot with a clearly labeled name tag, detailing its uses, making it easy for people to find and use.

The garden receives care from members of the women's union and health station staff, ensuring its healthy and thriving growth. Through daily medical examination and treatment activities, the Commune Health Station also regularly instructs people on medical effects of medicinal herbs.
According to Nguyen Thi Thu Thuy, Chairperson of the Commune Women's Union, every year, the association expands the medicinal herb garden by adding more plants. Whenever coming across any medicinal herbs, the women collect the seeds and plant them in the garden. Some members also contribute by bringing medicinal herbs from their home gardens. With a small collection of just over 20 pots, the garden has developed with more than 60 pots containing a diverse range of plants. This thriving garden provides easy access to medicinal herbs for common ailments.
In March 2022, the Women's Union of Vinh Luong Commune, Nha Trang City coordinated with Vinh Luong Border Guard Station to carry out the project "Medicinal Herb Garden" to welcome the National Women's Congress for the 2022 - 2027 term. Cadres and women's union members of the commune, along with officers and soldiers of the border guard station, planted about 10 beds with such plants as lemongrass, ginger, perilla, chives, spinach, mugwort... The garden is well cared for by officers and soldiers for the treatment of various common diseases.
Since 2023, the Women's Union of Cam Nghia Ward, Cam Ranh City, in collaboration with the Ward Health Station, has collected and planted many types of traditional medicinal herbs such as lemongrass, perilla, basil, white snake flower, ginger, turmeric, betel leaves, mugwort, motherwort, licorice, milkweed, perilla, etc. providing a source of medicinal herbs available for local people to use for some common diseases such as colds, coughs, herbal bath for babies, etc.
According to the leader of the Provincial Women's Union, implementing the Project of planting 1 billion trees in the period of 2021 - 2025 launched by the Government, the union at all levels has carried out tree cultivation projects suitable to the local situation.
Several association affiliations have collaborated to develop medicinal herb gardens. Beyond fostering a green, clean, and beautiful environment, these gardens have provided members and the community with medicinal herbs for treating common ailments without the need to buy medicines. In the coming time, the association at all levels will continue to encourage members to cultivate more plants and expand the collection of medicinal herbs, ensuring a sustainable resource available for medical use when needed.
