Practical life skills class for kids in summer

Khanh Hoa Provincial Children's House opened life skills and injury prevention training classes for children on June 13, offering free, practical lessons to more than 60 children, empowering them to stay safe and navigate challenging situations confidently.

Children are provided basic knowledge to prevent accidents and injuries.

The class environment was so dynamic. During the class, the children were instructed on practical knowledge related to safety in daily life, including important precautions such as not climbing high; how to handle gas leaks; preventing electric shock by not using the phone while charging, preventing electric shocks by not using phones while charging or operating electrical devices without adult supervision. They also learned burn prevention strategies, such as staying away from gas stoves and irons, and how to respond to incidents like spilled boiling water or touching hot objects. Additionally, the class covered essential lifesaving techniques, including cardiopulmonary resuscitation and rescuing individuals from electric shock.

Phan Kim Nhat Minh (Vinh Phuoc Ward) excitedly said: "I learned how to rescue others from electric shock by using a dry wooden or plastic stick to move them away from the source of electricity. It's important not to touch the victim directly and to immediately call for help from an adult.

Tran Le An Na (Phuong Sai Ward) said that in addition to being instructed on how to handle emergencies, friends also shared with each other about some dangerous situations in life such as crossing the street without looking carefully; not wearing a helmet on a motorbike; playing badminton on the street; getting burned when using a thermos flask...

According to Truong Ngoc Long, who is in charge of the class, the Provincial Children's House has organized the first free skills class in 2025 with the goal of providing children with basic knowledge of life skills and injury prevention, ensuring a sound and safe environment for them during the summer break.

This is the first time the life skills class has been held for free at the Provincial Children's Cultural Palace. What makes this class unique is its approachable and easy-to-understand teaching method. Rather than focusing solely on theoretical knowledge, the class emphasizes hands-on practice and real-life simulations, allowing children to engage actively and find fun in the learning. Beyond benefiting themselves, the knowledge they gain also enables them to remind friends and their families about the importance of safety awareness.

After this first class, the basic life skill classes will be maintained free of charge during the summer. In addition, more paid intensive courses are expected to be introduced to cater to the diverse needs of children and their parents. Hopefully, these life skills classes will keep expanding in the future, becoming a popular destination for children every summer."
