Vietnamese Family Day (June 28) is a meaningful annual occasion that honors the values, traditions and role of families in society.
According to Dang Quoc Van, Deputy Director of Khanh Hoa Provincial Department of Culture and Sports, over the past time, the State management of families and domestic violence prevention and control in the province has been implemented quite synchronously. 100% of communes, wards and townships have built steering committees and implemented family work and family-themed propaganda in various forms. 75 domestic violence prevention and control models have been established across the province with 810 family clubs for sustainable development, 865 groups of domestic violence prevention and control and 1,975 community support addresses.
Propaganda has been boosted to help raise public awareness of family violence prevention and control. Most of the households have stable income, with their material and spiritual life significantly improved, contributing to enhancing the rural and urban appearance.
To raise public awareness of the importance and role of families in national and social development, the sector will continue to strengthen the dissemination of the Party’s directives and the State’s policies and laws on family affairs, focusing on promoting the prevention and control of domestic violence; advancing gender equality within families; encouraging care for and respect toward the elderly; expanding communication on child care, protection, and education; preventing child abuse and combating social evils in family settings; fostering civilized lifestyles and cultural behavior in family life.
On May 4, 2001, the Prime Minister designated June 28 as Vietnamese Family Day to enhance the sense of responsibility among all levels, sectors, organizations, and families in building prosperous, equal, progressive and happy homes; and promoting child care, education and protection, contributing to the national development and defense.
In the celebration of Vietnamese Family Day this year, the Department has issued a document to implement the National Action Month on Domestic Violence Prevention and Control in 2025; a plan to organize communication activities, focusing on key activities such as visual propaganda with 230 banners; loudspeaker broadcasts for 3 days on main streets in Nha Trang City together with media collaboration with Khanh Hoa News to produce feature articles, reports and a special talk show highlighting the significance of Vietnamese Family Day.
