Ensuring security in Cham ethnic areas

Over the years, officers and soldiers of the Internal Security Division under the Khanh Hoa Provincial Department of Public Security have consistently worked to safeguard the peace, stability, and well-being of Cham ethnic communities.

Colonel Nguyen Quan, Deputy Director of Khanh Hoa Provincial Department of Public Security and leaders of the Internal Security DIvision visit and present a gift to a Bani Muslim Cham dignitary's family on the occasion of Ramuwan Festival.

Khanh Hoa Province is home to the largest Cham population in Vietnam, encompassing 22 Cham villages, primarily located in southern Khanh Hoa (formerly Ninh Thuan Province), with a population of approximately 93,709 individuals residing in the villages of An Nhon, Bau Truc, Luong Tri, Van Lam and others. In particular, Champa culture has many unique features and characteristics.

Over the years, the political security and social order and safety in the Cham ethnic minority areas have been relatively stable. Dignitaries and intellectuals have actively engaged in economic, cultural, and social endeavors, thereby contributing to the development and prosperity of their homeland. Concurrently, officers and soldiers of the Internal Security Division have maintained a consistent presence at the grassroots level to strengthen and consolidate military–civilian relations, promptly detect and counter subversive conspiracies and tricks, and proactively promote the influence of respected individuals and religious leaders from ethnic communities in safeguarding internal security.

The Bani Islamic Clergy Council always pays attention to maintaining the national unity and regularly coordinates with the police, especially the internal security officers, to promote propaganda for compliance with policies, guidelines and laws of the Party and the State to maintain security and order in the locality, according to Tu Cong Du, the Bani Islamic Clergy Council.

Launched in 2015, the model "Cham village security, order and traffic safety" in Luong Tri Village, Nhon Son Commune, now Do Vinh Ward, Khanh Hoa Province has provided a link between the Party Committee, local government and the people, involving 22 Cham clans in its implementation.

In particular, the clans have focused on propaganda and mobilization of 100% of households to sign commitments on maintaining security, public order, traffic safety, and compliance with fire prevention and control regulations; performed security patrols in the village; mobilized the implementation of the initiative "Lighting up rural roads" on inner-village roads; disseminated information regarding criminal activity to enhance vigilance; reported valuable information related to security and order to support the local police in fighting against violations of the law to help maintain safety and stability.

The model has contributed to promoting the movement of All People Protecting National Security in the area, increasing awareness and changing behavior to ensure national security and maintain social order and safety.

Dao Van Bui, Vice-Chairman of the Provincial Bani Islamic Clergy Council, Bani Islamic Clergy of Luong Tri Village, Do Vinh Ward, said, "Since 2015, the self-governing clan model of Luong Tri Village has promoted its role in mobilizing local residents, especially young generations to comply with the law, ensuring security and order".

In the new situation, officers and soldiers of the Internal Security Department set an example of the heroic tradition, demonstrating unwavering loyalty to the Party, the State and the people, overcome hardships and made sacrifices to complete assigned political tasks while fostering strong bonds and solidarity with the Cham ethnic communities, contributing to wholeheartedly embracing the mission of “serving the homeland and people.”
