Provincial leader works with Sumitomo Group

Tran Quoc Nam, Deputy Secretary of Khanh Hoa Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee, Head of the National Assembly Delegation of the province presided over a working session with Sumitomo Group on August 7.

Present at the event were Shuichiro Ikemoto, Director of International Energy Solutions Division No. 2, Sumitomo Group; Nguyen The Vinh, CEO of Van Phong Power Company Limited (under Sumitomo Group).

At the meeting, Sumitomo Group reported on the production and business of Van Phong Power Company Limited at Van Phong 1 BOT Thermal Power Plant. Accordingly, the plant was put into operation in 2024 with a total capacity of 1,320MW, contributing VND1,107 billion to the local budget. In the first 6 months of this year, the plant contributed more than VND506 billion to the local budget.

Sumitomo Group also presented its plan to implement the Van Phong 2 LNG Power Plant Project, as well as offshore wind power projects.

The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee highly appreciated the contributions of Van Phong 1 BOT Thermal Power Plant, emphasizing that energy is recognized as one of the key pillars driving the province's economic growth. The Chairman encouraged the group to continue investing in new projects in Khanh Hoa, affirming the province's commitment to providing strong support and creating favorable conditions throughout the implementation process.
