Whale spotted again in Hon Mun waters

A big whale was sighted near Hon Mun Island, Nha Trang Ward, Khanh Hoa Province on August 7, according to Tran Van Phu, Head of Nha Trang Tourist Wharf (Nha Trang Bay Management Board).

Earlier, whales were spotted twice in late July, 2025. The increasing sightings of whales on Nha Trang Bay are a positive sign for the improvement of the environmental condition, including better water quality, abundant food sources, and well-regulated fishing activities.

To protect whales, the Nha Trang Bay Management Board had issued guidelines urging vessels to maintain a minimum distance of 100 meters from whales, avoid chasing or obstructing their path, minimize noise, and strictly adhere to regulations protecting rare marine species within the reserve.
