On the occasion of this year's Mid-Autumn Festival, the teacher and students of class 8/1, Vo Van Ky Secondary School (West Nha Trang Ward, Khanh Hoa Province) came up with a creative idea of transforming used fruit foam nets into vibrant crafts. Through this hands-on extracurricular activity, they aimed to spread a meaningful message about reducing waste and protecting the environment, blending festive spirit with sustainability.

Teacher Le Thi Ai Van, class 8/1, guided her students through a week-long creative project that began with collecting used foam nets, washing, drying and coloring them; and then transforming them into art. The students, divided into eight teams showcased their rich imagination through vibrant artworks celebrating the Mid-Autumn Festival, featuring the Moon Lady, glowing lanterns, festive feasts, and scenes of joyful, loving families. Discarded foam nets have been transformed into colorful crafts thanks to the creativity of the students. They were very excited to make the artworks from this new material.

Le Ngoc Quynh Chi, class 8/1, excitedly shared that her group created a picture of children celebrating the Mid-Autumn Festival, carrying lanterns, etc., using fruit foam nets. “Through extracurricular activities, I learned how to recycle to reduce waste and promote creativity,” she said.
At the end of the extracurricular period, 8 groups finished 8 artworks featuring Children enjoying the cozy Mid-Autumn Festival, Sparkling Moonlight Night, Mid-Autumn Festival in the countryside and so on. The students all felt satisfied with their works of art and became more aware of environmental protection. “The artworks will be displayed in the classroom to brighten the space and make it more vibrant and welcoming. The students will feel proud and love their school more,” the teacher said.

The teacher and students have also carried out many extracurricular activities, recycling waste such as lucky money envelopes, candy wrappers, cardboard, plastic bags, newspapers, dry leaves... A unique learning space is gradually taking shape, where every corner of the classroom is decorated with students’ creative works made from recycled materials. Recycling and environmental protection have been integrated into lessons, helping students understand that some waste can be turned into useful items.
