Nha Trang - Khanh Hoa Green Transformation Project honored at ESG Business Awards 2025

On September 25, Nha Trang - Khanh Hoa Green Transformation Project led by the Green Transformation Center (GREEN-X), VinUni University, in collaboration with Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee, was honored in Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia) in 2 important categories of the ESG Business Awards 2025: Collaborative Partnership and Cross-sector Collaboration.

 

This prestigious international award brought together several pioneering organizations in the Asia-Pacific region, honoring outstanding initiatives on environment, society and governance (ESG).

The project demonstrated a multi-stakeholder cooperation between academia, local authorities, businesses and the community. Based on that cooperation, more than 50 experts from VinUni and prestigious universities, namely Oxford University, Duke University and the University of Pennsylvania (UPenn) have joined efforts with local authorities and residents to develop a comprehensive Green Transformation Project for Khanh Hoa Province and Nha Trang. The project is being implemented by Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee, creating a consistent policy framework and implementation orientation for the local green transformation.

Going beyond strategic planning, the project has implemented ESG training and cross-sectoral tools for more than 100 local officials; and piloted 3 groups of practical solutions on green lifestyle, sustainable tourism and transportation, directly benefiting more than 1.2 million residents and 11,000 businesses.

 

The outcomes have helped enhance local governance capacity for sustainable development, raise public awareness, and encourage stronger business engagement in the zero-net emissions roadmap. The award ceremony was attended by representatives of VinUni University, including Assoc. Prof. PhD. Phan Thi Thuc Anh, Vice Rector, Executive Director of the Smart Green Transformation Center, Director of Nha Trang - Khanh Hoa Green Transformation Project; and Nguyen Hoang Viet, Head of Facilities Management Department, Head of the Sustainable Development Committee.

Preventatives from Khanh Hoa Province included Chu Van An, Deputy Director of the Department of Construction; and Nguyen Hoang Son, Deputy Director of the Department of Finance. The participation of provincial leaders and VinUni experts at a prestigious international forum underscored Khanh Hoa’s strong commitment and proactive efforts toward green transformation for a sustainable future.
