Within the framework of the working trip to Italy and Switzerland, the Khanh Hoa provincial delegation, led by Nguyen Khac Toan, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, has held a working session with the government of the Canton of Vaud, Switzerland.

Present at the event were Tran Thu Mai, Member of Khanh Hoa Provincial Standing Party Committee, Standing Vice-Chairperson of the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee; and Trinh Minh Hoang, Vice-Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, together with leaders of local departments and enterprises. Attending and working with the delegation on behalf of the Canton of Vaud were Christelle Luisier Brodard, President of the Council of Vaud; François Vodoz, Vice-Governor of Vaud; Alice Francillon, Deputy Head of the Foreign Affairs Office, Department of Finance, Territory and Sports of Vaud; and Jeremy Lovey, Director of Business Analysis at the Vaud Agency for Innovation and Investment Promotion.
Meaningful working visit
The working visit of the Khanh Hoa delegation with the Vaud Canton government was far more than a diplomatic engagement, as it had a profound historical significance when connecting the two lands through the legacy of Dr. Alexandre Yersin, a great scientist born in the Canton of Vaud and devoted most of his life in Nha Trang - Khanh Hoa. At the working session, the Khanh Hoa delegation presented a video showcasing Khanh Hoa tourism, the potentials and strengths of the province and Dr. Yersin with Khanh Hoa.
Speaking at the meeting, Christelle Luisier Brodard expressed her pleasure to receive the provincial delegation. She emphasized that the legacy of Dr. Alexandre Yersin is a special cultural and scientific bridge linking Vaud and Khanh Hoa, providing a meaningful and enduring foundation for long-term cooperation between the two regions.

At the meeting, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Khac Toan expressed his pleasure at the working visit to Vaud, the hometown of Dr. Yersin. Nguyen Khac Toan introduced the potentials and outstanding strengths of Khanh Hoa, with the longest coastline in Vietnam, boasting Nha Trang Bay, one of the most beautiful bays in the world, and Nui Chua National Park, recognized by UNESCO as a world biosphere reserve.
Beyond its stunning natural landscapes, Khanh Hoa also has a modern infrastructure system with a deep-water port, an international airport, a highway system and regional railway connections. Khanh Hoa also holds immense potential in coastal urban development, eco-resort tourism, green agriculture along with major projects on nuclear power, pumped storage hydropower, LNG power complexes, prioritizing the development of high-tech industries, semiconductor industry, artificial intelligence, ocean technology, associated with the construction of a national data center, have opened up opportunities for Khanh Hoa to become a logistics hub and a strategic transit point for goods and energy for Vietnam and the broader region.

Khanh Hoa is aiming to become a centrally-governed city by 2030, with a smart, sustainable and internationally connected urban model. Especially, with Cam Ranh International Airport, one of the four busiest and most modern international airports in Vietnam, Khanh Hoa is expanding its international flight network, paving the way for enhanced tourism development and stronger international cooperation.
Several potential areas of cooperation
At the meeting, the leaders of Khanh Hoa province proposed cooperating with Vaud in such fields as economy, trade, investment, tourism, culture, education, science, technology and health.
Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Khac Toan shoared the hope that Government of the Canton of Vaud would provide a link to attract Swiss investors in high-end tourism services, processing industry, high technology and renewable energy in Khanh Hoa; exchange in sustainable tourism development, heritage conservation, tourism promotion and expansion of tours connecting the two localities; cooperation among schools, institutes, training centers, exchange of experts, lecturers, students, research and technology transfer; training and exchange of medical human resources, epidemiological research, tropical medicine, marine medicine, organization of international scientific conferences named after Yersin.

Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Khac Toan respectfully invited Christelle Luisier Brodard and the state's delegation to Khanh Hoa in an effort to foster practical and effective cooperation between the two localities. With strong foundations in education, scientific research, medical technology, and tourism, the Canton of Vaud and Khanh Hoa Province hold great potential for multifaceted cooperation across a wide range of sectors.
The working visit of the Khanh Hoa provincial delegation with the Canton of Vaud marked an important step forward in strengthening bilateral cooperation between Khanh Hoa and Vaud. Rooted in a shared historical legacy and united by common aspirations for sustainable development and prosperity, this relationship continues to deepen, fostering meaningful connections between the people of both regions.
After the working session, the Khanh Hoa provincial delegation visited his former residence of Dr. Yersin and Yersin Street in Lausanne City in Vaud to commemorate Dr. Alexandre Yersin.
