Khanh Hoa Province pays working visit to Vietnamese Embassy in Italy

On October 7, in Rome, the capital of Italy, Khanh Hoa provincial working delegation led by Nguyen Khac Toan, Deputy Secretary of Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of Provincial People’s Committee paid a working visit to the Vietnamese Embassy in Italy. The visit aimed to strengthen bilateral relations and advance economic diplomacy, while promoting cooperation in investment, trade, tourism, science and technology.

Present at the event were Tran Thu Mai, Member of Khanh Hoa Provincial Standing Party Committee, Standing Vice-Chairperson of the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee and Trinh Minh Hoang, Vice-Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee. The Vietnamese Embassy in Italy delegation included Nguyen Thu Ha,  Counselor; Do Dinh Tu, First Secretary, Director of Consular Department; members of the Embassy and representatives of the Italy - Vietnam Foundation.

Speaking at the meeting, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Khac Toan affirmed that the working trip aims to strengthen cooperaton with Italian localities and partners and expand exchanges on cooperation in the fields of investment promotion, trade, tourism, science and technology. On the afternoon of October 6, Khanh Hoa Province successfully organized the Tourism Promotion Conference in Milan, Italy. The event aimed to introduce the potential, strengths and opportunities for tourism cooperation, contributing to promoting exchanges and sustainable development between the two sides.

At the meeting, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Khac Toan introduced the potential, strengths, socio-economic development of the province and strategies.

Khanh Hoa boasts Vietnam’s longest coastline, stretching nearly 500 kilometers—dotted with stunning bays, including Nha Trang Bay, recognized among the most beautiful in the world. The province is also home to a rich and diverse cultural heritage, creating a vibrant foundation for tourism, community life, and international cooperation.

Khanh Hoa’s infrastructure has seen significant improvements in recent years. Cam Ranh International Airport stands among the four most modern international airports in Vietnam, enhancing regional and international connectivity. The province also benefits from deep-water seaports and a network of vital transportation routes, including the expressway, the North–South railway, and National Highway 1, which together create favorable conditions for trade, investment, and overall economic development. Khanh Hoa is considered an important joint and maritime gateway connecting the Central Highlands and the South Central Coast.

In the first 9 months of 2025, Khanh Hoa gained significant achievements, including GRDP up by 7.52% over the same period last year; total social investment capital reaching more than VND73,681 billion (nearly 2.38 billion Euro); export turnover up by 8.7%, reaching more than 1.54 billion Euro, with key products being seafood, shipbuilding, coffee and textiles. In particular, tourism revenue is estimated at VND 56,540 billion (nearly 1.83 billion Euro), up by 19.2% over the same period last year.

The province welcomed more than 14.1 million tourist arrivals, including more than 4.3 million international visitors, up by 18.7%. Khanh Hoa is also honored to be among the top 10 provinces and cities leading in innovation nationwide by 2025, according to the he Provincial Innovation Index (PII) announced by the Ministry of Science and Technology on October 1, 2025.

Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Khac Toan emphasized that with its outstanding advantages and constant efforts, Khanh Hoa is advancing a multi-sector economy with a focus on enhancing living standards while preserving its natural resources, all in pursuit of a prosperous and sustainable future.

Khanh Hoa is oriented to become a centrally-run city develop by 2030 with a smart, sustainable, unique and internationally connected urban model. On that basis, industry, energy and tourism are identified as three breakthrough pillars to ensure double-digit economic growth. In particular, industry focuses on developing high technology, semiconductors, artificial intelligence, ocean technology; in terms of energy, strongly developing wind power, solar power, LNG electricity; Tourism strives to become a key economic sector, accounting for over 15% of GRDP and 20% of budget revenue by 2030.

Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Khac Toan suggested the Vietnamese Embassy in Italy would support connections with localities, trade and investment promotion organizations, and Italian business associations in areas of strength such as sea and island tourism, marine economy, processing and manufacturing industry, logistics, high-quality healthcare, and green technology. He hoped that the Embassy would support promoting the destination of Khanh Hoa in Italy, introducing cooperation models for smart urban development and cultural preservation linked with tourism effectively applied in Milan and the Lombardy region.

Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Khac Toan also expressed his deep gratitude to Counselor Nguyen Thu Ha and the staff of the Embassy and the Italy - Vietnam Foundation for supporting cooperation activities, especially the coordination in organizing the working session with the Milan city government on October 6.

Speaking at the meeting, Counselor Nguyen Thu Ha highlighted the diplomatic ties between Vietnam and Italy, noting the deep affection Italians hold for Vietnam and its people, an advantage that facilitates broader cooperation. She emphasized that the launch of the Milan–Hanoi direct flight by Vietnam Airlines presents a valuable opportunity for Khanh Hoa to expand its reach within the Italian tourism market. Nguyen Thu Ha suggested the province should continue tourism promotion to attract Italian tourists; and investment in the fields of industry, high-tech agriculture, logistics services; cultural and educational cooperation. The Vietnamese Embassy in Italy is committed to providing a link for Khanh Hoa Province to meet with local authorities and businesses of Italy to expand economic, cultural and educational cooperation.
