Prime Minister orders helicopters and UAVs for urgent flood response in Khanh Hoa, Dak Lak and Gia Lai

On November 20, Deputy Prime Minister Ho Quoc Dung signed Official Dispatch 223/CD-TTg of the Prime Minister on severe flood response in Khanh Hoa, Dak Lak and Gia Lai.

Floods on rivers in Khanh Hoa, Dak Lak and Gia Lai are at very high levels with some places in Dak Lak and Khanh Hoa exceeding historical flood levels. According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, heavy to very heavy rain is forecast to persist through November 20–21, keeping water levels on the Ba and Kon rivers dangerously high, while rivers in Khanh Hoa continue rising and may exceed past flood peaks.

Widespread flooding across Tay Nha Trang area.

Massive inundation is expected to worsen, particularly in Khanh Hoa and Dak Lak due to high tides, alongside heightened risks of landslides in mountainous terrain.

In response, the Prime Minister instructed provincial authorities to act decisively and swiftly, prioritizing the protection of human lives. Local governments are to mobilize all available forces, including army, police, and militia, for evacuation, rescue and emergency relief.

The Ministry of National Defense and the Ministry of Public Security have ordered military and police units in the region to deploy maximum resources, notably helicopters and unmanned aerial vehicles, to support urgent evacuations, rescue operations, and delivery of essential supplies to affected communities.
