Workshop on Epidemic Intelligence from Open Sources initiative

The Pasteur Institute of Nha Trang organized a workshop on November 4 to share experience in applying the Epidemic Intelligence from Open Sources (EIOS) initiative in monitoring public health events, with the participation of nearly 40 delegates representing several regional institutes from the Central regions and Highlands and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention of provinces and cities.

The delegates listen to a presentation on the features and applications of the EIOS tool.

At the workshop, delegates shared their experience in implementing EIOS in the Central and Southern regions, Da Nang and Ho Chi Minh City. They also agreed to strengthen connections and cooperation between regional institutes, local disease control centers, and experts from the World Health Organization (WHO) to build a proactive, effective and sustainable public health surveillance network.

The EIOS initiative, led by the World Health Organization (WHO), is an effective initiative that supports public health decision-making. It is for medical facilities to get engaged in emergency preparedness and response.

With technical support from the WHO, the Pasteur Institute in Nha Trang is currently one of the pioneering institutions implementing and operating the EIOS system in the Central region. This initiative contributes to the rapid and accurate delivery of information, supporting the direction, monitoring, and response to disease outbreaks.
