Bryde’s whale returns to Nha Trang Bay

A Bryde’s whale was sighted in Hon Mun Marine Protected Area, Nha Trang Bay at 5:50, May 26. This followed earlier sightings near Hon Mun in July 2025.

To ensure the safety of whales, the Nha Trang Bay Management Board requested organizations and individuals to keep at least 100 meters away, avoid chasing, blocking them, separating mothers from calves or driving into pods. Tourist boats should not gather in whale areas, and when observing, operators must reduce speed, minimize noise, and turn off engines. Drones should not be flown at low altitudes to prevent disturbance.

Since 2024, Nha Trang Bay has welcomed the return of sea turtles (October 2024), a pod of over 100 dolphins in Hon Dung (April 2025), and a Bryde’s whale at Hon Mun (July 2025). They are encouraging signs of the improved environmental condition and water quality in Nha Trang Bay, as well as the effective implementation of Nha Trang Bay Recovery Master Plan until 2030 by the Provincial People's Committee.
