Statistics released by the agriculture sector have showed that Khanh Hoa has 1,000 ha of sea-salt farms mainly in Ninh Hoa, Cam Lam and Cam Ranh Township with an annual salt output of over 70,000tons.
Sea-salt is produced by evaporation of seawater. Since early 2010, salt producers have met great difficulties due to falling salt price, VND1-1.5 million/ton. Reportedly, salt prices have reduced sharply after the Ministry of Industry & Trade allowed salt imports.
