In 2008, the Khanh Hoa Provincial People’s Committee decided to merge Home for the elderly and Khanh Hoa Medical Center for Beneficiaries of Social Welfare into Khanh Hoa Center for Beneficiaries of Social Welfare.
Thanks to the staff’s good care and enthusiasm, the number of arrivals to the center have gradually increased. In 2009, 3,330 arrivals were received. In the first 6 months of 2010, 1,230 arrivals were provided medical care. The patients coming into the service include heroic mothers, wounded soldiers and Agent Orange victims. Therefore, the staff’s regular strenuousness is required.
At the center, the elderly have been instructed how to remain healthy and prevent some common diseases. Besides, sightseeing-tours have been held to some tourist destinations, including Ponagar temples, Institute of Oceanography, Lao Island, Long Son pagoda, Nhan Tam eco-tourist area, Thap Ba Hot Spring Centre, etc. In addition, cultural and musical shows have been organized helping to create a happy and healthy environment for the elderly. All the effort aims to combat depression and keep them active physically.
Moreover, the Khanh Hoa Provincial People’s Committee and the Department of Labor, Invalids and Social affairs have assigned the center to take care of lonely old people in Khanh Hoa Province. They have been given medical treatment and medicines. Besides, they have been and gifts on special occasions.
All the staff of the center has made great effort to overcome difficulties to help beneficiaries of social welfare, who deserve social support and care.
