Over 9,500 ha of winter-spring rice crop 2010-2011 has been harvested in the area of 19,300ha with an estimated productivity of 52 quintals/ ha, the Local Plant Protection Department reports. Rice varieties included ML 48, 202, TH 6,41; DV 108, etc.

Some rice fields, 613ha, have been damaged by pests, including drought, rice blast diseases and insects. Local authorities suggested the Plant Protection Department take measures to protect crops.
