In the period of 2006 – 2011, Nha Trang has got a lot of achivement in socioeconomic programs.
In the Job Creating and Poverty Reducing Program, the rate of poor households decreased sharply to below 3% in 2009 from 12.14% in 2006. During five years, the city has created jobs for 43,936 labourers, exceeding by 1.23% over the target and 33,938 labouers have been trained vocation, exceeding by 2.6% over the target. Production supporting policies also have helped many poor households develop production and raise income. From 2006 to 2010, 22,000 households have been given preferential loans.

The Trade and Tourism Development Program also has achived good results. The trade and tourism growth rate in 2010 was 17%. Portion of tourism and service in the city’s economic mechanism increased to 62.4% till end 2010. The number of visitors has risen year-by-year. In 2004, Nha Trang welcomed 1.1 million visitors and the figure was 1.67 million in 2010. The total turnover of retail sales and services in the city in the period of 2006 – 2010 reached VND32,894 billion.
The Program of Rural Traffice, Alleys and Electricity in the city in the period of 2006-2010, has been finished. 91.82 kilometers of alleys in the city has been upgraded with an expenditure of VND78 billion and more than 1,030 routes have been lightened, which cost nearly VND21.3 billion.
Some above results have showed properness of Nha Trang Party Committee, the People’s Council and the People’s Committee in deciding main matters of the city. As a rsult, Nha Trang has been become a first-class city since 2009.
