Owning to good quality and reasonable price, Vietnamese cell phone brands hold a large market share in the country.

Entering the cell phone market for only several years, Vietnamese cell phone brands have shared the market with big phone firms such as Nokia, Samsung and Sony Ecrisson. In 2010, market share of local cell phones is estimated 20 – 40%. Some popular brands are Q-mobile, FPT, Viettel, Mobistar, Mobell, Alo, Avio, Cayon and WellcoM. Q-mobile has been the No.1 local cell phone company with 20% of the total cell phone sale in the country in 2010.

Made-in-Vietnam cell phones now have a lot of advantages. Beside having full of features as imported products, they are abundant in design and color. Moreover, some local kinds have special features. For instance, Viettel’s GSM Seaphone 6810 is a specialized cell phone for off shore fishermen or sea patrol boats or Bluefone has launched a four-SIM cell phone model and a 3 online SIM one for different demands of users. All of local cell phones and their accessories are under strict verification to ensure quality, model and features before being consumed.

Another strong point of local products is their competitive prices, which fluctuate from VND700,000 to VND2,500,000 for each. Local cell phones also have wide distribution systems, good warranty and their frequent promotional programs. All have helped them well-received by local consumers.
