Under the guidelines of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, many units, agencies and enterprises in Khanh Hoa Province have joined a wide range of activities to mark the Workers’ Month 2011.

Successful and widespread propaganda held by trade unions during the Workers’ Month 2011 made the event become the festival for all employees. Together with the energy saving propaganda cooperation between Khanh Hoa Provincial Confederation of Labor & Khanh Hoa Power Company, competitions on energy efficiency and conservation methods were organized.

The Workers’ Month 2011 achieved satisfactory results. 100% of employees actively got involved in taking energy-saving measures at work and at home with 12 people rewarded certificates of merit for creativeness in saving energy by Vietnam General Confederation of Labor. Reducing the amount of electricity consumed is considered one of the most effective and affordable ways to solve the environmental and energy challenges.

In addition, housing assistance was provided for the needy. 8 poor people were given a financial aid of VND165 million in total. Besides, the supervision on the implementation of policies on workers’ legitimate rights and interests, including health and safety, were enhanced to ensure they have fair pay and conditions.

Moreover, various leisure and entertainment activities such as musical shows and tournaments were organized to improve the spiritual lives.

It is the first time Khanh Hoa has held activities in response to the Workers’ Month. Thanks to the direction and support of Khanh Hoa Provincial Committee, Provincial People’s Committee and the close cooperation of relevant authorities, the event also provides great opportunities for employees to show their skills as well as to entertain themselves, Pham Xuan Danh, Vice Chairman of Khanh Hoa Provincial Confederation of Labor says.
