Moon cake market in Nha Trang this year starts early as moon cake stands have appeared at any corners of streets. Moon cake price this year shows 10 – 20% increase over last year.
“Kinh Do up to now has received many big orders from businesses and organizations. Moon cake market this year promises very busy. Kinh Do moon cakes see 10 – 20% rise in price due to the sharp increase in prices of materials such as pork, green peas, sausage and jam”, said Pham Tuan Hung, an agent of a Kinh Do moon cake stand on 2-4 Street.
Prices of Kinh Do baked moon cake are VND35,000 – VND45,000 for a one-egg cake, VND55,000 – VND85,000 for two-egg one and VND180,000 – VND300,000 for four-egg one. A sticky cake is selling VND35,000 – VND60,000.
Beside traditional baked and sticky moon cakes, Kinh Do has luxurious sets of moon cakes called “Trang Vang Hong Phuc” (VND900,000), “Trang Vang Phu Quy” (VND1.4 million) and “Trang Vang Hung Thinh” (VND2 million). Kinh Do also has plain moon cakes for vegetarians, diabetics and cardiacs.

Bibica also has high-grade products, including De Nguyet (VND1,2 million/8-cake box), Thuong Nguyet (VND750,00), Phuc Nguyet, Thu Nguyet and Kim Nguyet (VND390,000 – VND580,000). Bibica’s popular moon cakes cost only VND28,000 – VND41,000/ baked cake, VND37,000/sticky cake and VND32,000/vegetarian baked cake.
Other trademarks like Huu Nghi and Dong Khanh also have popular and luxurious products for this Mid-autumn season.
Local moon cakes still hold a large market share in Nha Trang.
Yasaka-Saigon-Nhatrang Hotel plans to produce about 100,000 cakes weighing 100g, 200g, 250g, 600g and 1kg. Prices of Yasaka moon cakes are VND45,000 – VND65,000/sticky cake, VND35,000 – VND110,000/baked cake (1-2 eggs), VND350,000/600g cake (4 eggs) and VND520,000/1k cake (6 eggs).
Another big local trademark is Sanest Moon Cake. Sanest Moon Cake products are made by high-grade and nutritious materials, especially salangane nest, shark catilage and holothurian. All of them use isomalt as a partly replacer for sugar. Sanest Moon Cake products now are sold nationwide with prices of VND108,000, VND234,000, VND444,000 and VND650,000 for boxes of one cake, two cakes, four cakes and six cakes, respectively.
Meanwhile, other local trademarks such as Hoa Hung and Vinh Thanh are favorite of many people because they also have various flavors but their prices are lower. Especially, Hoa Hung moon cakes are always fresh, new, delicious and no preservatives.
