. Businesses storing large amount of goods

According to Co.opMart Cam Ranh representative, since November, many suppliers have announced 5 – 10% increase in prices of products for Tet including confectionary, jam, beer, coke, milk, detergents and clothes. Consequently, the supermarket has made preparations for Tet such as warehouses to store goods, workforce, food safety measures and contracts with suppliers to ensure enough goods for Tet. The stored goods of Co.opMart Cam Ranh for this Tet are worth VND18 billion in total, a 30% increase over last season. Moreover, to serve remote areas, the supermarket will send many goods caravans to districts of Cam Lam, Dien Khanh and Khanh Son.

Maximark Nha Trang and Maximark Cam Ranh have stored a large amount of goods for Tet. “Maximark Nha Trang will have goods 3-4 times as much as usual, mainly confectionary, sugar, milk, poultry and instant noodle. Additionally, the supermarket will sell goods at two spots in Khanh Vinh District and one spot in Van Ninh District for 10 – 15 days, starting from middle last month of the lunar year”, said Doan Thi Tho, manager of Maximark Nha Trang.

Citimart Nha Trang also has ordered suppliers a large number of goods for Tet. The amount of fresh food such as meat, fish and vegetable will rise threefold over usual to meet the rising demand.

Metro Cash & Carry Nha Trang, just opened, diversifies Nha Trang market. With more than 25,000 commodities, Metro Cash & Carry Nha Trang can serve about 50,000 customers that are restaurants, hotels, offices and companies. This supermarket is offering many promotional programs, which will last till January, 2012.

According to the provincial Department of Industry and Trade, Khanh Hoa has prepared abundant amount of goods for Tet; therefore, there will no lack of goods despite the soar in purchase demand.

In addition, under the province’s price stabilization plan, 5 businesses have accessed loans VND35 billion in total with a interest rate of 0% to store goods and stabilize prices during Tet. Accordingly, products such as rice, sugar, cooking oil, meat, poultry, eggs, processed food, vegetable and seafood at price stabilization spots will have 5-10% lower prices than markets.

Moreover, the authorities are intensifying to control the market by inspecting food safety, measurement and quality of goods and preventing speculation, price fever, smuggled goods and bad quality goods. Violators will be punished strictly according to regulations and laws.
